Hi - I'm new to smart car.
So today I connected my scan tool and re-connected the battery. I monitored actual gear selected while I turned key on. When the TCM had selected a gear. I disconnected the battery. So now I was sure I was in a gear. ( actually 2nd )
I lift one wheel off ground and try to turn it. Will not turn - this verified clutch is engage.
Connected power leads directly to actuator. Extended actuator to release clutch.
Actuator moved but clutch did not disengage. Retracted actuator. Measured the actual stroke of the actuator.
7/8" of an inch.
Removed actuator and used a pry bar to disengage clutch. Clutch arm needs to move at least 1".
Wheel would move freely verifying that clutch was disengaged.
I moved the actuator as close as possible to the clutch hoping to put some pressure on the arm to "start" the release. This made no difference.
Questions -
1 - what is the maximum stroke of the actuator and what stroke is required to disengage clutch.
2 - since the actuator appears to only have a 1" stoke, is there a mechanism in the actuator to take up any slack ?
