  1. The Smallest Production Cars Ever Built Make Modern Compacts Look Huge
  2. Bill was lucky! A new battery installed and she started first try. The scan gauge showed that the alternator kicked in and was charging. Luckily the parking brake wasn't used (tendency to seize) and all the wheels turned freely. I was able to drive her to my shop where I changed the oil, serviced the brakes and installed the winter tires. Runs like a charm!
  3. 21 years and my daily driver is still a smart car!!! The 2006 has been super reliable and I've had no issues other than routine maintenance. I still have the shop but now more time is spent keeping my wifes smart (2012) on the road, the model T running, our 1999 Lexus and relatives vehicles road worthy. And a little time helping csc members!
  4. If You Had To Reduce Your Fleet By Half, What Would You Hang Onto? - The Autopian '' I think I would press my 2006 Smart Fortwo diesel into service as my daily driver. It gets 70 mpg all day long, is nearly bulletproof reliable, and it would hit the spot of being weird and different. I used to daily nothing but Smarts for eight years, so I know it can be done. ''
  5. Out of curiosity I asked the price and the total with tax is $88. And that's after my 10% discount. Is that outrageous or what?????

  7. Uncle Glenn is still available to help. From what you describe it could be a relatively easy fix. Of course once its up on the hoist I would have a much better ideaπŸ™‚
  8. 2024 was rather a quiet time with the T. Liz and I stayed close to home so that we could help look after her elderly mother. I regularly drove it to work and we did attend a couple of 200km tours. However in late August the rear end was getting noisy so she was parked for the season. Finally started working on her in Feb. Turned out that it was the lead thrust washer that had given out. Only lasted 103 years. They are replaced with a bronze one that is only usd25. Gaskets and new bearings probably rounded out the bill to about $400. I was assisted with the repair by a friend who has owned one for over 30 years. He figures he has put on over 100,000kms on his T. He's very dedicated to the brand. I've already put on over 300 kms and everything is back to normal. We were at Timmies yesterday and a young fellow was enamoured with the T and invited us to his familys get together this labour day w/end. Everytime the T is taken out for a drive you get numerous smiles, waves, honks, and enquiries - lots of fun!
  9. This is a 2006 euro version (700cc gas engine) that was on display for over 15 years. Very good condition. Has only 46,000kms. A pure cabrio with silver panels and black tridion. Passion alloy wheels with clock/tach. Asking $5700 Send a pm if interested.
  10. Follow those instructions and I bet you will discover that the problem will be a broken plastic nipple as per evilution. Why worry about the routing of the fluid? In my 20 years of working on smart cars the tubing hasn't been the problem and it would be a nightmare trying to trace it through the car πŸ™‚

  20. I just read about Mike T's B200 and his updating to a new Mercedes. So it reminded me about the Lexus I bought back in 2018. Well that baby has only required regular maintaince and repairs that I have being able to do by myself. However about a month ago I got a scare. At highway speeds it was ''jerky'' and my first thought was a slipping transmission. That would be an expensive repair. Luckily the CEL came on with a 308 code - misfire #8 cylinder. That required an ignition coil. I didn't know the age of the sparkplugs so they were replaced. Parts were less than $300 and I did the work. The Lexus has now clocked over 388,000kms and continues to be super reliable. She's only used for pleasure and when we need to haul more than 2 people. Continues to be an absolute pleasure to drive! Back in 2018 I said, ''I had lunch with my daughter and her boyfriend and got to visit his parents. Looks like the start of a long relationship.'' Well that was right on - they are now married, have a 2 year old, are expecting in April, and are moving to London from Vancouver in May - busy times!! 22. A big milestone has passed - 20 YEARS of smart ownership!!! My 2006 smart continues to be my daily driver and went through the year with only routine maintenance! She has been very reliable! I still have my shop and continue to help csc owners when requested. It should be noted that I have stored a lot of parts for the cdi's so contact me if you're looking for some hard to find items. Enjoy the upcoming holidays with family and friends!!
