  1. Oh of course, but it's not handling I'm interested in. For that I have my R32. I want to make the smart look a bit meaner, and I think an all black smart with tinted windows and bigger wheels (black of course) would do the trick.
  2. Hello all.Long time.We finally have a Smart dealer in Puerto Rico, and as a result... I left a deposit Passion, black/black.Anyway, the reason I write is, I want to know what are the biggest wheels/tire combo that will fit without further modification. I am assuming it would be 16's or 17's, but I have been out of the community so long, that I cannot remember for the life of me.
  3. I believe it's small, as in japan it competed against the Toyota BBx (scion xB)
  4. So the end of this story. There's still been no word on Smart deliveries here, so I cancelled my order. On top of this, the Jetta ended up having problems with the clutch. Apparently it was damaged during the shipping, but since the damage took so long to surface, the shipping insurance basically told me to piss off. So I did what any sane person whose girlfriends dad owns a car dealership would do- I sold the car for spares and with that money (and some other money I put aside + money from the sale of two of my guitars + the money I saved by not buying the POS Wagoneer and inheriting an late model 4Runner + a small personal loan) bought a new VW R32 I have this for the daily commute and weekend surf/dive trips, and the 4Runner for the mountains.
  5. Mike, our old S-Class arrived through North Carolina (not sure where, but I specifically remember NC). Also, MB has some business in Port of Mobile... probably just receiving for the Tuscaloosa plant, but still. Last, call me regional, but I feel that San Juan, Ponce (PR), and Honolulu are also worth checking out, since the only way cars are arriving there is via boat

    My First Car

Mine was a 1984 Jeep Cherokee Chief. I got it in 1998, and it was completely stock except for a CD player I added, and a padded roof rack for my surfboard. 2.5L 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual... the 2 door version (yes! A cherokee coupé!) It was the most fun car I have ever owned. Here's a picture of one I found online... the only way it could be more identical would be to remove the front license plate. Seriously, that is my first car's twin
  8. Aren't they great looking? I've seen seeing a black one locally with Dominican Republic plates and think it's one of the sharpest cars for sale anywhere at the moment
  9. completely random question about the Figaro, but were there any issues with mounting the license plate?
  10. Holy random VW group day batman!Saw a Skoda Octavia and a SEAT Leon with Dominican Republic plates today.Supposedly the US gets SEAT in 2008. Canada was supposed to get them in 1994, but it was scrapped.
  11. Some background, Port of San Juan is one of the main shipping/receiving ports in Caribbean/Latin America, and as a result, almost every car imported to the region goes through here. Yesterday afternoon, I was down by the Port, and there were various non North American Suzukis, Hyudais, and Kias in storage lots waiting their final voyage to their new home port. The Hyundais/Kias didn't interest me much (although the Getz and Terracans were pretty neat)... rather, a lot full of Suzuki Swifts and APV's got my attention. There were a few Ignis's... (Igni?) and the usual SX4/SUV suspects. But what got me was the lot full of Swifts. Those are nice cars
  12. I'm not often jealous of another person.I am now.Wow... that is truly impressive.
  13. *marks calendar for ETA of the car on the island**adds 3 days to allow it to clear duty inspectors, get inspected, get registered/titled/plated, and get insured)*I'm also considering buying a Jeep Wagoneer for $900 to beat it up in the rainforest
  14. Probably He also has the Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealer, the Hino Truck dealer, and is partner in the local Ferrari-Maserati-Land Rover-Aston Martin-Audi-Lamborghini automall (ie- 1 huge showroom with a roped off "by appointment" section and an offroad course off to the left.)
  15. Update and answer time.. lol.I ended up deciding on a cheap used car that her dad picked up at auction in FL for me. 96 Jetta, 5 speed, power everything, 29k miles... $1500USD!!!!!!!!! And since daddy owns the local Veedub dealer, maintenance isn't a big worry of mine. Car should arrive next week. Her Dad confided in me that he's hoping to get the smart franchise on the island, if not once they start selling, he promised to get me the first one he finds at auction in the states. As to why no Honda Fit. They're backordered on the island... like the Scion xD and any Mini.
