Or you can still use the same method as with the diesels which involves this. That is a current ad, BTW, and it is not my trailer for sale ---- but it does look like a substantial one. Hi Doris. Hope all is well with you now after your mishap.

So, just wondering --- what would be the purpose/significance of such photos for your engagement?Moderator could perhaps edit this vague topic title. -
Front Pads
deezle replied to dbuzz77's topic in Operation and Maintenance: 450 Model, 2005-2006, diesel
TPM = Three Point Motors, the smart dealership in Victoria, B.C. Their annual garage sale in the fall allows you to pocket some savings. Otherwise you can buy EBC pads through several other sources. -

I replaced ours with the EBC blacks and have been pleased with them. -
I'm surprised (and disappointed) that they're not bringing the 220 in order to improve their overall fleet mileage for the more stringent emissions rules.

So does that mean you need a different key for each wheel (or three keys for each wheel), or did you somehow order a set of twelve lugs all keyed the same?
-
That is impressive, though the real world economy rarely meets up to those specs ---- but even if it gets 5.4 for a car that size would be amazing.Any date on when we get the C diesels and the prices?

**sold** 2005 Smart Cdi Coupe - Victoria B.c.
deezle replied to deezle's topic in Classifieds - smart cars for sale
Just the one set of wheels. With the Vredesteins all-seasons there's no real need to swap tires from summer to winter on the coast (apparently they can handle Ontario winters too). The interior just has a few small scuffs because of the soft vinyl. No upholstery tears, but the Pure fabric needs to be cleaned a couple times a year to remove water spots. I have a new set of floor mats still in the bag. Here are a few more shots of the car. -
Please allow me to request that people refrain from adding comments, discussion, praise, criticism, philosophical views, or neurological distortions to this Classified Ad. Questions --- yes. PM's ---- welcome. For Sale. 2005 smart Coupe (Pure). One owner, glass roof, Softouch auto shifter, tach/clock pods, alloy wheels (Passion style), luggage cover, one year old Vredestein all-seasons, new battery, upgraded horn, front mudflaps, chrome badges, led sidemarkers, stainless steel dead pedal (thanks I M SMART). 89,900 kms. Lovingly maintained. Only flaw is a few small scratches on the front nose panel.$7200 OBO.

The oil pressure light would have come on immediately on the dash. But as pointed out, ICBC would likely have been paying out a LOT more if the driver had stopped in an unsafe location.

True on both points, SameGuy. " a quintessential icon of the Art Deco era of coachbuilding." Indeed ---- that's quite piece of sculpture. The otherwise somewhat garish headlights tucked behind the grill is a sweet touch, too. Back to the Macarena (not to be confused with the Macaroni which I believe is a Fiat design), imagine the repair bill if that car was ever rear-ended with the top down. The thing collapses into a two foot 'crumple' zone.

The real mystery is what happened to all the members between smart 65 and smart 142???!!!!77 members MIA!!

The thumbnail had more attractive contours, but the PooJo has potential. Those retractable hardtop convertibles are popping up (and down) everywhere now ---- even Chrysler's Sebring gets the treatment. I find that they give much more appealing lines to the cars when the roof is up (as opposed to a rag-top), but I just can't help thinking about Montreal's Big Owe stadium and wondering about the future maintenance costs of these retractable roofs on cars. Has anybody heard of the reliability/maintenance costs of those roofs? The VW EOS has been around for a few years now.

Back to topic. Two things:The first time I clicked on that video link I didn't see the caption at the start that rates the cars collision performance ---- in this case "poor" for the smart. Has that been added by somebody? Who?The second is a question about who set up this crash test. Was it originally a Mercedes test? It seems odd that any automaker would crash two of it's own products into one another. It will always make one of them look relatively bad compared to the other.

Very true, Bil.It should read 'fuel economy AND safety'.

Good that you're booking it in for a service --- there's definitely something not right. My first thought was that it's in limp mode. Will it rev up to the red line?Yes --- Cdi. Your VW past seems to be seeping out.

Congrats, Mike, on getting your new baby home safely! Sounds like everything went like clockwork ---- perhaps a few Swiss genes in the baby's system contributed.I'll look forward to seeing it sometime.

I use Rotella T in my old Benz, too.

Definitely afflicted with 'Serial smart Buyer Syndrome' (not to be confused with 'Smart Cereal Buyer Syndrome', which is a much less expensive condition). Certainly a smart shopper. -
Who dug up this mindless topic out of the compost heap and why?Do we have a backhoe available to bury it?
-
That thing looks great, Steve!!! The diesel looks simple and easy to service yourself (like my old Benz) and the whole vehicle seems very versatile. I can see you now standing on your 'elevator' ---- going up to the camper that you've built for the back.

Congrats on the investments, guys! Precious metals should do well long term.I expect that those orange slices on the front panel will be replaced within minutes of ownership. They definitely jump out at you with those color schemes.

Optima Red Top battery
deezle replied to lebikerboy's topic in Operation and Maintenance: 450 Model, 2005-2006, diesel
In January of 2009 I replaced the original battery with the Optima Red Top, thinking that our baby deserved the best and it would be peace of mind to have a maintenance-free unit. On Monday morning when the car wouldn't start and behaved very strangely in the process, I never even dreamt that it could be a battery problem. Sure enough --- the Optima was toast. The dealership tried recharging it to no avail. A new battery from the dealer remedied the situation. Fortunately Costco gave me a full refund. Full!So my point here is to warn that the much-touted Optima may not be all it's cracked up to be. I had read a month or so ago in another non-smart forum of somebody having problems with their Optima --- now it rings true. Buyer beware. -
Yes --- I think that is the plan. It's actually a good idea ---- people who normally wouldn't be seen driving a compact, 'green' low powered car could drive this one because it states: 'My other car is an Aston Martin' without any need for the bumper sticker. Take the real one out once or twice a week --- but get the prestige fix every day.
