  1. This blog to be referred to once you have properly diagnosed a faulty crankshaft sensor (2005 - 2006 smart cdi) model only. Follow the diagrams. Note it was not an easy task but "NOTHING" else was needed to be removed in order to replace the crankshaft sensor. A good flash light is a must. You will also need to raise the rear of the vehicle to gain access from the bottom. (If you are a shop and have a lift it will simplify things)
  2. 2015. I had to replace the radiator cooling fan and I now have 2 sensors I do not know where they go. one on each side. the driver side is wire bundled with the external temperature sensor with about 10" of separation. pictured is the left side. more photos if needed. Thanks
  3. Greetings! I have a 2005 Smart with 100K on the clock. I've been trying to get it smoked for a year. There's a sensor that won't wake up, so it throws the whole system off and it won't pass California smog test. Folks have told me to drive it. I've put over 1500 miles on it, had three smog test attempts and now have a fix-it ticket. Any ideas? the sensor throws off a "not ready" signal so I can't pass the functional smog inspection. HELP. I don't want to have this be the end of our journey together.
