Hi, yesterday my BRAKE and ESP warning lights starting coming on and staying on. Than I turn off the engine and waite for a while. So I tun it back on but the lights stayed on. I drive carefully but the SPEEDOMETER showed 0 (zero) and stayed there. The dealer of garage said it could be my ABS SENSOR. So I want to know what is right? What can I do with this problem? Anyone knows this problem? Thanks !!! (Smart 450 MC01, 1999 model)

Hi, Speedometer, RPM POD at 0. Dash Display (Gears) went blank. Hoping to get some thoughts on the cause. I have an '06 450 diesel with 199,500 km. Temporarily, while driving, my speedometer and RPM pod both went to 0 and the dash display indicating the gear I was in went blank. Here is what happened: I was accelerating up a long hill on a paved county road with the rev's up to about 3800 in 6th gear : A car was coming up fast behind me and I suppose I had the peddle to the metal accelerating from 80km/hr trying to get up 95 km in short order. Around 90 km/hr I looked at the dash displays: Speedometer was at 0; RPM POD was at zero and the dash display which should have displayed 6 (6th gear) was blank. I drove a couple more kilometers then downshifted to 5th, then 4th. When I was in 3rd I was going about 40km/hr and was pulling over. When I looked at gauges they were back to normal displaying speed, RPM and gear display on the dash. Other: My ABS light has been lighting up intermittently (replacing the brake lamp switch this weekend). After the above situation the ABS light was not on for 100 km. The ABSE has since started to display intermittently again. I always drive between 2000 and 3000 RPM....revving the engine to 3800km in 6th gear is something I never do.... ....(just this once)....and that seemed to precipitate the above issue. Cheers, Claude
