Hello Everybody, especially Marmots! My name is Elaine, also known as Laineha (I have seen another Elaine on here). I am in Port Alberni and have just adopted a Smart :yahoo: . She is my second; my first was in the UK, before we emigrated. So now, I feel really at home! Does anyone know where I can get Smart decals from - my last Smart had a decal on the back saying (in proper Smart font) "Smartarse" and I'd like another for here? You all seem very friendly, I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you, especially here on Vancouver Island... Bye for now! Laineha

:doublethumb: that's a date! See you then! Anyone else from Alberni? I've seen two on here, one who had her tyres slashed recently - how heartbreaking is that - and one other...TTFNLaineha

Good to meet you here and I'm glad the smart makes you feel at home. Can you tell us more about your smart and how do you like the diesel compared to the gas?

Hello...My Smart is the best we could afford (just emigrated and not yet working) so I hope to add on some nice bits & pieces as we go. We bought her privately from someone on Vancouver Island. She (I've not named her yet) is a 2005 Pure, black tridion & body, cabriolet, A/C, grey interior. The rest is pretty much standard...And of course very cute! I filled up today and it only cost $17!!!!! Compare that with our ford van, costing $100-$150 a week in gas!My UK Smart (Ginny) was also very cute and used what you call 'regular' fuel. The main differences between the two are that the diesel Smart is much more 'pokey' ie it responds quick, whereas the regular fuel Smart was quieter. Can anyone explain why there is tax on a car sale EVERY TIME it is sold? What's that all about?!!!Thanks again for the welcomeTTFNLaineha

Welcome to Canada. I crossed over about 20 years ago for a quick look at another country!!The government likes its tax money, so they tax every car sale. I know, it's a scam. Just remember to take as many deep breaths as you can each day as they will tax that too if they can. It's all about fuelling the goverment industry - get more money from the masses, hire more people to spend it faster, get more money from the masses, hire more people etc. They have even been talking about charging us country dwellers for the water that we take out of our wells too - LOL, it'll never stop.Welcome again and good luck here.Robin

Welcome to the club! Decals are widely available on ebay, especially ebay UK. If you ask nicely they usually agree to ship to Canada. Not sure about that particular one you had though...
