MikeT Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 (edited) 119 more smarts are on their way to Baltimore, arriving in the second week of January! Here are the serial numbers:085177086576086636089738096697097214099631099661099668099707099840100065100110100143100215100220100277100285100293100298100303100313100319100330100335100537100740100820100832100954100969101010101039101088101093101101101119101127101152101159101173101186101204101212101219101235101249101262101291101295101300101307101331101346101358101365101437101449101469101493101501101509101513101517101521101534101538101550101560101564101595101599101603101615101619101666101679101691101695101712101732101736101779101803101828101852101892101896101900101933101985101993101997102005102029102033102053102057102098102106102117102125102162102167102191102207102238102246102254102264102351102361102388102412102423102435102452102476102484 Edited January 1, 2008 by Mike T Quote
MikeT Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 For the record, that will be 593 cars in the US after this shipment, of which:Total Number of coupés = 382Total Number of cabriolets = 211 Quote
Gene_SD Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Thanks Mike T, now if we could only get them to the dealers. I have heard that there is a delay in releasing them because of emission testing. I will keep my ear to the ground for any new info. My dealer in San Diego expects them to be release between Jan 10-15. Quote
MikeT Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 I bet that any delay is actually due to the need to replace the SRS electronic modules on some of the cars built a month or more ago. That was the reason for the delay in Canada, anyway. Quote
spdickey Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Any word on smarts bound for the US West Coast? Long Beach or Port Hueneme? Quote
Gortok Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I wonder whether or not it'll be Penske rigs pulling the "parking lots" cross country.Be on the lookout... Quote

When did the extra 5 come here? Thanks! Quote
Schmimbo Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I went to the Smart house in Venice the other day and spoke to a smart rep there. He said California will be dead last with everything we get from smart. Because all the cars being delivered by boatwill be always done on the east coast. All the deliveries will be done in that order as well. Going state by state untilit reaches California dealers. No Oxnard or Long Beach deliveries. This sucks. Quote
MikeT Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 The total number of vehicles in the shipments listed here is 588. When did the extra 5 come here? Thanks!Ah yes, sorry about that!Four came on the shipment EX714:027284027351027529027575And one appeared in San Francisco without showing up in the shipping records:027520This is why spotting serial numbers when a car is seen is useful, once in a while something odd will turn up, which could be a clue about "mystery shipments" etc. Quote

No Oxnard or Long Beach deliveries. This sucks. Not according to dealer reports from two Southern California dealers who are expecting cars delivered through Long Beach. We have reports from Beverly Hills and West Covina smart centers that cars will come through Long Beach.Of course, perhaps not at first. In that case they would be "land bridged" via rail/truck from Maryland. And don't expect cars destined for California to be hijacked by an greedy dealer in Kansas! Quote
Gene_SD Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Talked to the San Diego smart center today and found out that the ports of entry for the US are Baltimore-MD, Jasksonville-FL and Long Beach-CA. So Mike T is there anyway for you to check / report on these other locations as well? All information concerning tracking the smarts for the US is greatly appreciated. Quote
MikeT Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 Thanks for the tip, I will see if I can find anything for those ports too. I have been searching thus far on Baltimore only..... Quote

Perhaps that will change, but for now Baltimore seems to be the only POE. Quote
mkt Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Mike, our old S-Class arrived through North Carolina (not sure where, but I specifically remember NC). Also, MB has some business in Port of Mobile... probably just receiving for the Tuscaloosa plant, but still. Last, call me regional, but I feel that San Juan, Ponce (PR), and Honolulu are also worth checking out, since the only way cars are arriving there is via boat Edited January 3, 2008 by mkt Quote
MikeT Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 I just checked: neither HI nor NC are destinations for Wallenius-Wilhelmsen at this time.Right now I am searching on the basis of customer reference number and bill of lading number and all I get is Baltimore MD. When some cars appear in the showrooms, some VIN checks will be a very useful tool, to see if I am missing anything..... Quote
spdickey Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Wow... Where are they holding all these cars? However, here is a "library" shot from Google Maps:http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Dundalk+Mari...c=addr&om=1 Quote
TexSmart Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 anyone in the know about when TEXAS is getting its first SC's? Quote
landstrasse36 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Does anybody know if there are any silver/silver smart cabrios with the red interior headed for the Twin Cities (Minnesota)? Quote
LorbeerTLC Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Too bad Seattle, Washington isn't a POE for Smart in the northwest. I guess they'll be trucked by rail from the east coast. I wonder if SmartUSA will still go by order priority or will they fill-up the eastern states first, then move westward?Does anyone know if BC has a POE?-Tom L. Quote
MikeT Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 In Canada all the cars come through Halifax, Nova Scotia. Quote
spoons Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Spoons, what is your res number? the first six digits backwards is the timeSorry -- the (future) in-laws descended, and there wasn't time for the Important Stuff. :)My res # starts with 403590. I made my reservation March 19, and completed my configuration online August 27.I'm neglecting my poor (reliable, good-in-the-snow) Subaru, because frankly, it's not a smart. And all my money, time, love and attention must be reserved for Einstein. I think that's going to be his name. I'll need to meet him to be certain. but that's where I'm leaning. 'scuse me, I've gotta go sweep the garage floor again. *grin*Happy new Year, y'all!!! Quote
