I like the location you chose but I have busy legs and probably be knocking it off at every light.

The pic is a bit deceiving. It is no where near my legs or knees... no chance of knocking it off. I am 6 ft. tall.

Does anyone sell a mount that integrates the uses of the 12v socket as a power source and scanguage holder?

The ScanGauge has its own power source from the OBD port and does not utilize the 12v socket for power. If you are talking about an add-on to the 12v socket that still leaves it available for another electrical device while serving as a holder, that would be cool but I haven't seen one.

Well, my mounting location mid-dash below the button-row on the fabric (shown above in previous post) did not hold up and kept falling off. The velcro does not stick well to the fabric. So, I have moved the ScanGauge to the top of the cubby on the left side of the steering wheel as others have done. Velcro'd to the top edge of cubby where there is plastic to stick to. There is an opening in the back of the cubby at the top-right corner so no drilling required. Just put a fish wire through it and it will come out beside the fuse block under the dash, then tape the end of the ScanGauge cable to it and pull 'er back up and through. I put a blocker (alligator clip and tape) just where the cable comes through the opening in the back of the cubby so it can't slip back down if I disconnect the cable from the ScanGauge. The ScanGuage is quite visible in this location, through the spokes of the steering wheel, and looks quite good. Still lots of room in the cubby with easy access below the ScanGauge - it does not block it much at all. Here is a pic of the location... not mine but from a previous post:post-629-1205607485_thumb.jpg

Tom P - just finished setting mine up the same as yours! I was happy to discover there was no drilling required as I want to keep my smart as "stock" as possible!

Just installed my new scanguage as Tom suggested. It looks great and works pefectly but...the velcro won't stay put for more than a few hours. I placed it very carefully on the plastic bar inside the cubby hole and not on the fabric. I cleaned it with alcohol and did not touch the adhesive before sticking it on. what are your experiences with this location? After a few choice words and a bit of creative thinking, I came up with a solution that makes it solid as a rock and works beautifully. I found a pair of plastic clips that are used for holding bottom of small houshold venetion style door blinds ( the type that stop the blinds from swinging when the door opens). These are small, about 1" high , 3/4" wide and have a 3/8" right angle bend. I placed two of them on the back of the guage using velcro, then a tiny bit of crazy glue on the small angled part of the clip and position the guage exactly as shown in Tom's picture. It turns out that the glue does touch the fabric inside the cubby hole but won't be seen even if it is necessary to be removed later. I'll take some pictures and post them this weekend.CG

Used epoxy glue to stick the velcro to the dash. Works like a charm and can still remove it for other vehicle use.

To follow up on this post - the hanging velco tape solution sucked! I routed my ScanGauge cable through the dash (no drilling required, but long, slender fingers are an asset) and set it up on the left-most heat vent. Perfect spot, no vision obstruction, and I don't have to peek through the steering wheel to see it! post-5197-1211071061_thumb.jpgClose-up of where you can route the cable through in the driver's side cubby. post-5197-1211071273_thumb.jpg
