kadair789 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Hi I was wondering if anyone had found a way to get a second set of speakers in the car?I was thinking ones that could be removed or attached to the little roll bar like the jeeps? Quote
Wheel_Man Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I did! I put in 4 Kenwoods, 2 in the doors and 2 in the rear. Here is the link: http://clubsmartcar.com/index.php?showtopic=12883 Jim Quote
crankin Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I like that idea of having them installed in the bar...hmmm? Quote

I mean if I were to get new speakers for my doors do I have to worry about the depth of the speaker so that the window doesn't hit them? Do just the outside door pannels have to come off or did you also take the inside panels off at any point? Thanks! Quote
kadair789 Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 I looked on ebay for the speaker pod for jeeps, the run 150 and have a dome light .They would have to be modified a bit because the would be wider than the smart car.I also found speaker pods that could sit in your storage area of the trunk for just over a 100. Wheel_Man Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Don't buy too good of a speaker as it MAY hit the glass. To install them you must remove the outer door panel. The factory speakers were Way!!!! too small, almost laughable. Any other speaker would be an inprovement.I mounted them in that position(rear) so that they would be ABOVE the rear cover. The fronts are in the factory location. See link above. Quote
Guest gazzalama Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) Hello everyone, I'm marco from como, italy and I just joined this club. Last friday I mounted a pair of tweeters to my new smart 451 and I just wish to suggest this to everyone who has the standard speakers (and radio 9) since it improves the sound quite a lot. There is a space where to clip the tweeters under the dashboard (see pic enclosed) they must be between 29 and 34 mm diameter and the cables are already fitted and they can be easily found also under the dashboard, even if in the driver side I had to remove the fuse box to find it. My choice was a pair of Sony XS-H03 which I paid only 30 euros. The sound is improved even because the door speakers are midwoofers, so with the tweeters now you can listen to music, even if it remains quite poor compared to the sound system of the previous version, with the extra sub and tweeters. Does anybody know the electric scheme of the Radio 9? This is because I would like to plug the iPod cable, but the connections scheme of the radio 9 is different than the one of the past smart version... Before it needed to be connected to the blue ISO plug, but it doesn't work with the radio 9. Edited March 3, 2008 by gazzalama Quote
Guest yoyoplay Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Do I need the premium sound system to make this modification? Quote
crankin Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 In response to the speaker bar in the rear of the cabrio. Browsing the future shop website came across a wakeboard marine sound bar that clamps around a bar. I am going to take a closer look with a visit to the store. From the picture it looks as if it might be too tall to work with the top up, you would also have to rotate it up so that it doesn't block your rear vision. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...=&langid=EN Quote
