I just purchased a net set for the luggage compartment of my 451. (I got it from flying tiger; http://shop.flyingtiger.ca/index.php?p=pro...&parent=77)

The side-net works great, easy install in the stock access panel.

With the net for the floor however, I'm a little hesitant about the installation. It comes with 4 latches with small bolts, nuts & washers. The intructions are very vague and say that the latches "could be fastened anywhere on the floor" and "should be installed by a professional at a certified smart center".

I took a look and there is no obvious location for stock mounting points in the steel floor... I don't want to do any drilling.. and besides, the latches don't look long enough to rise past the carpet (if you mounted them to the floor and just slit a hole in the carpet) because of the thick backing/insulation; it's over 1 inch thick in places...

so I'm taking an educated guess and assuming that the latches just get fastened to the carpet itself. The bolts are pretty small in diameter and the washers that came with the bolts are less than a half inch wide. I'd be worried about this small hardware ripping through the carpet/backing when you put a lot of tension on the net so I'm probably going to purchase much larger washers for both the top and bottom.

Does anyone here have one of these net sets in their 451? Where did you mount the latches? What are your experiences? Anyone have any insight?

Denis,You are absolutely correct. The mounting only goes through the carpet; not the steel floor. Make sure you drill the hole only big enough for the bolt to go through. Snug. You'll see indentations on the underside of the carpet. Net not meant to be pulled very hard.
