Waiting Period

Just wondered if there is still a lengthy waiting time from order to delivery or are there sufficent inventories building in Canada to meet demand?

A few weeks ago my dealer said that there is still at least a 5 month waiting period. I have been waiting since April and it is now on the ship crossing the Atlantic.

We ordered ours in mid-late-June, and it is now on its way from Halifax to London, set to be ready to drive home on Friday, Sept. 30th. So that's a bit less than 4 months. On top of that, it was delayed a few times due to a factory shut-down and a holdup in certification of the 2006s.

So don't get your hopes up or anything (as you can see by Artz's experience, it's different for everyone), but the wait time does seem to be getting shorter, and 3 months isn't out of the question.

You ordered yours in June and it is on it's way to London; that's not fair.

The moronic sales guy where I orginally gave my deposit too said 6 months back in February. 5 Months later they hadn't even confirmed the order so I cancelled it. I talked to him yesterday and he said 7 months. Increased demand , increased wait. I ended up getting a 2nd hand one.

I was told today that the wait was around 3 months in kelowna.

I placed my order this mid-september and the dealer told me It would arrive in 4 months (January) .

I placed my order on July 5, and will receive the car next week, Oct. 5.

So, months to the day!

I stopped into the local MB dealer in London Ontario today for an oil top-off (ya!) and they had just rec'd 14 of the little gems, from green to black, and everything in between. Salesman said almost everything pre-sold.

It made a nice picture to see all these little darlings lined up for dealer prep. There might be more members hear in a few days. Good luck to everyone picking up a new baby at the London MB maturnity ward, and welcome to the good life (of buying less fuel and getting looks everywhere you go).

Iam waiting for my smart it is suposed to be here at the end of the month can you tell me on the cars that you guys are waiting for were they factory ordered the one I am getting was one that was in Halifax that was not a special order take as is and they told me it would take 2 weeks or were they just stringing me a line

A couple answers:

[*]There was a backlog in Halifax as the 2006 model was delayed, awaiting certification from Transport Canada

[*]If you order from a corporate M-B dealership, you're almost always sure to get the shortest wait period

No-one has told us their smart fortwo wasn't worth the wait.

You probably saw ours then! You saw it before I did. I'm jealous.
