While I'm all happy with my 451, I still want to make it my own. This includes doing a couple of things:The DRL on CDM 451s is a piece of programming in the BCM that is enabled, and isn't enabled for USDM 451s. Is it at all possible to disable the DRL code? I know the dealership could do it because they have the proper tools and such, but they wont do it due to the leaglities of having no DRL in Canada. I may have to travel State-side to do it, but does anyone have any leads? Also, and this is much more involved... is it possible to swap out the entire USDM SE drive and pop in the Euro-spec SE drive (like the one the 450 has). I know the boards are all different, I'm curious if anyone has tried to do the swap yet. If not, I may just buy one to see if it would just be plug and play. I know it's huge $$, but because it is one of the main user imput devices on the smart (I refuse to let the computer do the shifting for me and deprive me of the fun) it would be worth it for me in the long run. I don't thing the cluster would need to be changed, as all the info that's displayed on it is sent to it by the BCM (think tty-terminal emulation) That said, the BCM might be different, or there could be two sets of code in it, one for each SE drive. This means it could be just like the factory cruise control where you sipmly swap the stalk and upload the activation code. Plug-n-play style. If anyone has any info or thought on either of these quesions, I'd love to hear it! Cheers,

Yeah, sorry Bil, I should clarify... I meant importing an SE drive for a Euro-spec 451 from over-seas to see what makes it tick and how it's different from ours (and to see if I can make it work). I didn't mean to try and see if the SE drive from the 450 would work in the 451, but now that you mention it.... !:D

Yes, the drop pin for P on the 451... I'm hoping it's an add-on, I've thought about it's operation a bit, and I'm wondering how they did it (whether it's a pawl in a reaction carrier on the output shaft or something else). Chances are the pawl action itself is attributed to an actuator, just like all the other transmission related actions. Without P, the actuator doesn't move, or maybe you could get away without having it plugged in. Either way, I'll get a good look around under there when I install my new exhaust.

Okay I have no idea what any of the acronyms in the OP actually mean lolMaybe I'll "understand when I'm older... the men are talking right now" ;)

New model year Canadian smarts (post 2006) have daytime running (always on) lights. US smarts don't.Jibber wants to disable the running lights in his Canadian 451 when he goes to the US.In prior model year smarts (450) there is a simple button-and-stalk sequence that lets you disable/enable the DRL. Either the 451 doesn't have that, or no one has found the code yet.B :sun:
