MikeT
Car's still in the shop due to labour shortages....both rear wheel bearings were shot - I had one new in box and the other will have to come from the dealer. one sway bar drop link is shot. Engine mounts will go in soon....and a new thermostat. Suspension replacement is underway. A/C needs recharging and the two Schraeder valves are leaking so will be replaced. Brake fluid has too much water in it so the entire system will be flushed. Engine whine diagnosis not done yet, will happen once the car's back on its wheels. Oh yeah and the tires are old (and the rears are near the wear bars) so they'll be changed next year.
smartzuuk
Well that is a laundry list! The cabrio I have needs quite a bit of laundering! I just did an oil change on it, for certainty, and I measured what came out, it had 200 to 300 ml too much... I extracted it nice and hot and filled almost exactly 3 L. What came out was ~3.3. Oh sorry, wrong thread, sorry for the hijack, LOL. Snowball will be pretty good after this round, eh?

MikeT
Got her back today. What actually was done: re&re front and rear suspension, adding original springs and dampers with 30K km replace rear bump stops with new ones I supplied replace front A-arms and both ball joints with parts I supplied replace both rear wheel bearings (one supplied, one brought in by dealer) replace thermostat replace both leaky Schraeder valves on A/C plus supplied receiver-dryer; recharge system replace bent tensioner with supplied one replace belts flush brake fluid, which had too much water content replace all engine/transaxle mounts replace one brake line that was being chafed by the BRABUS shock absorber That's more or less it. The whining noise is still there and is likely an alternator bearing or similar, so we will wait until it progresses before doing more. The car sits literally 2 inches higher now, which means it's MUCH more comfortable now. If anyone wants some used BRABUS/Eibach springs, cheap, let me know....

MikeT
I'll take Snowball over to Eddy in the spring to have the whine looked at. I think it's the remanufactured alternator.....
MikeT
50-50 chance that we will sell the Canada 1 to our youngest daughter sometime next year. We won't be needing three cars with only me driving them all, and the 404C will be in the road next year.
