John & Angela Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) A co-worker informed me that he read online that the blutec diesel would be available in Canada in 2011. I can find no reference to this on the net. Any truth to this rumour? Maybe I just suck at google. Thanks. Edited September 9, 2009 by John & Angela Quote
Huronlad Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I thought there were already vehicles available with the Bluetec engines in Canada? Quote

MightyMouseTech Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 They already offer three??!??!?!? http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/index.cfm?id=6555 2010 ML350 BlueTEC 4MATIC 2009 GL320 BlueTEC 4MATIC 2009 R320 BlueTEC 4MATIC Quote
Francesco Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 The last-gen E as well, so the new E should add it soon, but it might be a 250 BlueEfficiency instead. Quote
John & Angela Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 I should have been more specific. He was refering to the Smart Car Blutec. Quote
MikeT Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Interesting speculation, but there is not even a Bluetec version of the smart cdi in Europe yet. Quote
ianjay Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) Hope they make it in interesting colours.I don't see where they're going to put the extra apparatus, but you never know. Getting a diesel version of the new North American smart has been ruled out a number of times. It would be quite a reversal.Ian Edited September 9, 2009 by ianjay Quote
Francesco Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Oh, smart bluetec. Mike is right: it's been mentioned here more than a few times that the new 451 cdi engine is pretty much like the 450's. Updated map to 45 hp and a particulate filter, and the 451's bedeviling 5-speed transmission. Quote
lebikerboy Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Blutec won't work on a .8 litre cdi engine according to what I've read... Quote
Nextourer Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 so what's the difference between bluetec and blueefficiency? one's diesel and one's for petrol? Quote
Huronlad Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) Diesel and urea versus petrol, both are direct injection. Edited September 10, 2009 by Huronlad Quote
John & Angela Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 I think he is (they are) getting confused with the new diesel mentioned here but I don't see anything about Bluetec. High Mileage Diesel for Smart The figures are good though. The thing is since we got these little puppies we have had a group of converts who want to buy a new smart but won't buy one unless it is a diesel. personally I think they will be waiting awhile and suggested there are some good used CDI's out there. One took a gas unit for a drive and thought it drove as nice or nicer than the CDI but didn't see the point of buying it with the mileage of the gas jobs. Anyway, it would be nice to see the new high mileage diesel unit in Canada. I would be interested as well...in a couple years. Quote
Francesco Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 BlueEfficiency is just a brand name for the new, full line of MB cars with common rail direct injection, both diesel and gas, whereas BlueTec is just the CDI with urea injection. Quote
