I wonder what the seller means by "AS IS".  Maybe it's got an engine problem...  Still, it's one of the nicest 451s ever made.

Probably tires / brakes etc.  To pass an e-test no engine lights can be on and has to pass diagnostic test - but you never know.

Numero uno for sale, 29,900 kms so it did a lot of sitting around.  Carfax shows it had a few owners.  For it to end up at a used car lot makes me think it was traded in at Mercedes and quickly wholesaled due to its age and them likely trying to distance themselves from smart cars nowadays.

Does the Edition series have the same 70HP engine as the US spec Brabus?

Yes, they were a regular NA spec brabus (which they likely had to be for certification purposes)  the uniqueness was that they were specially done by the brabus custom shop which at the time was VERY expensive if you were to order one from them on your own, even just custom paint and interior like they were.  The 70hp was a limiting factor and most of them sat around for months/years unsold due to their cost of almost $40,000 from what I remember.  Most were heavily discounted in order to sell and I don't think Mercedes ever tried anything like that again lol.  Even with the brabus turbo engine they would have been a tough sell at that price!

Also I think the serial number you have for car #2 might be wrong, carfax wont accept it.  The 9th digit is 1-9 for the others to load but car #2 is a no-go.

Thank you very much for the info on the Edition series cars.  The dark grey is very pretty with the tan interior, but the price would have been a big negative factor for me even had they been available in the states.

WMEEJ31X09K232651 is the VIN and the car was written off years ago, so it is indeed a correct VIN.  Thanks for the ID of number 1.

Thanks, found #2.  Car was written off February 2012 in Winnipeg with 34,900kms on it.  That said I "think" that may have only been the show car for Western Canada.  #1 may have been the show car for Eastern but not 100%.

That would be a regular BRABUS, not the "edit10n", which was customized at the BRABUS factory.

Hello everyone...

I do not know if this thread is being looked at presently, but I own a auto repair facility in Newmarket ON and No. 4 of 10 is currently in my shop just in case anyone is interested.

It appears to be in very good condition with just over 100,000 kms on the odometer.

Bit of advice, get Mercedes to write you up a certificate of authenticity for the car if you haven't already. They're very special, being BRABUS Tailor Made, and therefore are worth a lot more than a regular 2009 smart. In the dealer system, it would show up as a regular passion.

I dont own one, I was at head office as an intern when the idea was conceived and then later worked in sales and sold 2 or 3 of the 10th editions, I also sold you your white BRABUS diesel and the red BRABUS one we shipped out by train to BC.  Beside the rare stuff I had no interest in the job there and moved on to bigger and much better.
