Sapper
ForTwo 450 Nightrun Front end: Replaced both struts, springs and top bearings. Both wheel bearings and both bottom ball joints. All reasonably simple to do, just fiddly and could have done without having to take the front end off and the headlights just to change the struts! Fitted new front fog lights. Inside: Lost the code to the radio, then spent far too long tearing the radio out and reading the 'chip' to recover the code Replaced 2 rear tyres. Next Month... Drop engine, replace all engine mounts and while it's down do a service and replace the coils, plugs, oil pump, timing chain and water pump.
MikeT
I have to do most of that soon on my car. The BRABUS sport suspension (springs and dampers both) have crapped out at 172K km (140K of actual use), so the original ones that are like new will go back in. New engine mounts have been in my garage for 4 years.....I do need to order new swivel bearings and bump stops for the rear, both of which have exploded. I have new A-Arms (not the cheap Chinese shit) and ball joints too, so I may do those at the same time as a mid-life refit. So to do the engine mounts, I presume dropping the rear X-member is required. If so, it's a good thing I have the factory long boy bolts just for that purpose.

Willys
Hmmmm......I ordered a injector seat cutter and new seals for my cars.....I have two injectors new which are leaking black ooze and it's all due to bad seals trying to seal against bad seats. So another tool to add to the collection....when will it stop?
MikeT
Changed the front pads for the first time on the Canada 1 at 172,500 km. Still might have had 40,000 km in them but they took a beating a year ago on the track day and I had a set on my shelf so it was done. The ears of the pads that rest on the caliper saddle are susceptible on a car like this to binding on the cast iron due to rust and that in turn leads to dragging brakes. Good to get that done, also did engine oil and filter plus air filter. Today I gave her a good wax job, the first in a few years. I also did all 4 pads on one of my daughter's Hyundai. The dealer in Nanaimo had told her the car needed pads, rotors and two "binding" rear calipers. The rear pistons screwed in easily - not seized - and rotors were fine. Saved her $1850. Shithead dealers bug me. (They also recommended another $4200 in work, only $380 of which is actually needed.)
MikeT
Today we drove to Port Renfrew and completed the loop into Victoria for dinner. Then home, a bit over 300 km. The car at Port Renfrew:
Willys
The time has come to get serious about solving my issues...lol. Time to start the soaking ritual to enable removing 2 seriously stuck in place injectors. I have been on a 29,300km trek across the country and up to the Arctic Ocean just to say yep I have done that and been there.....lol. I comeback to a yard that needs a week of attention and 2 smart cars in either need of similar attention or a quick bullet to put both of us out of our misery...! Don't tempt me! So today I start the soaking of the carbon build up while the yard work begins....AUGH....!!!!!!
Wild!
I recently purchased a 06 cabriolet form a former member and installed a tape deck ,used the upgraded speaker system that came with it. Changed the head lights to led to reduce the current draw on the wires, Installed some under dash lights and installed a dash cam this weekend. I haven't decided on fogs yet. I think after the fogs that's as far as I want to go with this baby.

smartnhappy
I washed it. Ran her thru the car wash as a special treat. For me, this is a big deal. After a lifetime of meticulously cleaning and polishing all my many vehicles, I decided to let the car begin aging gracefully and develop its own patina. It's approaching 20 years old. Mjolinor
Never having washed mine in the eight years of ownership it is probably time I thought about it. The mirror spiders are getting a bit much, every morning it's like a pair of parachutes on the windows, takes 10 MPH off the top speed. Wild!
This wasn't today but I when could the last couple of days changed the rear springs, shocks, flex pipe, removed the Brabus muffler and its heat shield removed the insulation that was impregnated with salt, then reinstalled that heat shield with out the insulation, replaced the hinges on the trunk, replaced the alternator and next to change the clutch , all in just over 300k. After this hoping to get another 300k out of my 451 . Sorry no pictures I'm pretty sure all is this is already on the sight somewhere didn't want to do a repeat. Oh my bad I think I just did! MikeT
Dropped the car off at M-B Nanaimo for: front A-Arms (supplied by me) font ball joints if needed (supplied by me) re-installation of the 30K km original springs and dampers (the BRABUS stuff is worn out) recharge A/C (receiver/dryer supplied by me, if needed) new rear bump stops - the BRABUS springs made it bottom out all the time so they're exploded. Not available from smart, got a set from my friend in Germany new drive belts and tensioner (the latter supplied by me, not available from smart) rear wheel bearing (supplied by me) New engine and transmission mounts (supplied by me) diagnose a whine in the alternator or belt tensioner It'll be there a couple of weeks due to a short staffing situation...
