aderoy Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Nothing special just the full wash/claybar/wax treatment. Then of course a nice 200km run to Point Pelee park to get it dirty.Got to ready for the summer. Quote

bilgladstone Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Yup.Too bad... I had thought they might have figured out a solution by now. I was all over the UK forums (and here) in 2006, explaining that these after-market cans need two things: flex pipe and elastic mounting. Otherwise you will forever be repairing them!It is notable that this change is exactly what smart did for the 451. And it is the same reason that so many early after-market exhausts for the 451 have failed - until the various fabricators clued in and added a section of flex.I finally gave up and designed one myself.B Quote
bilgladstone Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Added new decals: Though I think I am going to very carefully razor out the chicken beak to make it more legible.Bil Quote
glass Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Today I got the stock speakers replaced with JL C2 600s and I added a Kenwood KAC-8404 amplifier. The sound is much nicer, much more crisp. Not to mention much louder! And I've now added a 10" Focal 25 A1 subwoofer. Takes up about 40% of the trunk's floor. Quote
gordo.bernard Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 OTBill, do you have vortex generators at the back of the roof as well? Quote
bilgladstone Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 OT Bill, do you have vortex generators at the back of the roof as well? Not at this time. I am chasing principles from aeronautical applications and attaching VGs at about 10cm ahead of the high point of the cross-section in order to "drag" the laminar flow down to the following (roof) surface. Next little VG project is to do the same under the chin, to clean the flow up onto the under-tray surface (and into the fuel cooler and intercooler scoop). This long-term "sandboxing" here at the Skunkworx Bil Quote

It just kind of struck me one day that the black Tridion swoop beneath the doors looked kinda like pirate sideburns a la Jack Sparrow.B Arrrrrrrr matey! Quote

bilgladstone Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 A couple of guys had these installed at the Nationals and I think William is planning on getting a set.BobbYes, there were several multi-thousand-mile reviews - no deleterious handling effects and positive reports re tread wear.Time will tell... I know that a threw out two sets of rear tires (one new pair, one pair I got used) that wore to the bar on the inside but were good for many more kilometers on the outside.B Quote
MikeT Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Are you sure it isn't a toe problem? My green car has as much negative camber as your "before" shot and its (195) tires lasted 79,000 km to the wear bars, evenly across the tread. The 175s it came with went to 46,000 km before I got the wide wheels and they had about 4.5 mm of tread left on them. Quote

bilgladstone Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Looks good Bill, So how did you guys do it, change the Dion tube? Hi Steve,In and out in about an hour. Here's the "wedgie" kit. Note it was originally made for the 451 and you apparently don't need the chamfered spacer for the 450. And once again, "big ups" to Terry Schlecht at Kelowna Auto Care. His shop manager, Crystal, says "WHAT are you going to bring us NEXT!?" It's always something new and different, and Terry is always up to the challenge. Mind you, I haven't said the words "air conditioning" around there yet Bil Quote

MikeT Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Hmm I would have suspected toe out. Well let us know what happens to the tires in 40K. Quote
