Well the shell is not visible but the red painted bits and some others are. These are definitely from that car, because it is the only Canada 1 coupé and of course the Canadian panel changes are visible in the photo, as are the removed (for painting) glass pane from the roof and windshield. The rear light shrouds with round light holes (as opposed to the oval ones the European models had) plus the rear side marker pods are also there if you look for them.... smartnhappy Posted September 15, 2017 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Update on car # 1..... I've moved from London th St.Thomas, Ontario (only about 25km). Car now has around 24,000km on the clock, and was pressed into yeoman service during my move. Everything works fine on the car and the air blows very cold. It did get a little dirty over 2 weeks during my move. It wascleaned up for the parade, and is currently nestled comfortably under it's cover with a battery tender I/V. My one car garage is 3 feet longer than two Smart 450's, almost like it was made for me. Also just purchased a very nice Grandstyle #61 from a local club member, to round out my Smart family at three. What am I doing?? Is there a cure for Smartritis?? Is it dumb to have lots of Smarts?? MikeT Posted September 28, 2017 Author Share Posted September 28, 2017 I haven't driven as much as usual in the past year; my target for the Canada 1 is 15,000 km/year but she is showing two wrenches with a 26 meaning it's over 11 months since the last service reset and I've done a bit less than 8000 km. However, the average over the more than 7 and a half years I have owned this car is just about 15,000 km, including the 5000 km trans-continental drive in 2010. Started it today (no problem after 3 weeks) and did a 50 km loop. Started L'il Toot also after 5 weeks... no problem. Contacted Old Autos magazine about a possible story..... smartzuuk Posted June 18, 2018 Share Posted June 18, 2018 Update on car # 4 New owner picked up the car from me on June 15th, 2018 The car is now in Edmonton Alberta. I am fairly sure the new owner will make an appearance here. I'm digging up some more pictures and tidbits on the car. stickman007 Posted June 19, 2018 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Its me! The Canada1 got a quick car wash today to at least get all the bugs off. Bumper and muffler came off to clean up some of the oil crud build up. The upper EGR hose was leaking at the manifold and leaked oil all over the engine, but not enough to drip on to the ground. A closer check revealed that the hose was not cracked or broken...so maybe it was just a loose clamp. There was also a lot of oil around the turbo area, so maybe the turbo TIK seal needs to be replaced? Time will tell - the car did not burn any oil though...dip stick didn't drop before and after the trip. Will modify the original 30pin iPod cradle to fit the new iPhone cable sometime this week. smartzuuk Posted June 19, 2018 Share Posted June 19, 2018 A loose clamp huh? And I have two spare TIK seals. My first smart cdi started leaking there around 100,000 kms. That was 11 years ago! Changed that, and leak gone! I'd like to see a pic of the GLI and cdi together. Getting some use out of that iPod add-on would be cool! I actually had an iPod that fit and did use it sparingly. That was a really expensive accessory in the day! What I wish I had been given was the Brabus sub-woofer that the second owner had been given brand new in the box, but never did get it, and then they moved from Port Moody and it got turfed AFAIK. I had a lot of fun with the car at shows and parades, and that major west coast ‘reunion’ of all 4 cars. Time to move it into someone else’s caring custody. I am looking at buying a 2006 Brabus CDI Cabriolet in black, clearcoated wheels and a two tone interior, almost lime green and tan. it has 60,000 km on it and seems to run fine but I have no idea what it is worth or how much I should pay for it. MikeT Posted January 19, 2019 Author Share Posted January 19, 2019 Welcome. It won't be a genuine BRABUS unless it is black on black coupe outside and has light bluegrey leather unheated seats. That version was called the BRABUS nightrun and only 50 were made. The BRABUS Canada 1 referred to in this thread is much more rare: three were Cabriolets - one white on white (mine), two red on red, and there was one red on red coupe. Send me the last 6 digits of the VIN and I will have a look in the database and tell you what I know about the car's history before you make an offer. Even a genuine BRABUS Canada 1 is worth no more than about $8000 today and that would be hard to get. He is asking $7.500 for it so I am sure I am going to pass on it. Too bad, they are cool little cars and DAMN, what amazing mileage. Anyway, thanks again for the help. Stay safe and happy eh ... MikeT Posted January 19, 2019 Author Share Posted January 19, 2019 Here are some more details: AO2 - pulse model C17 - dealer fitted sound system (they probably skipped the upgraded main speakers) EB1U - anthracite tridion colour IAAA - Twister Green interior (the stuff that looked tan was once green - probably the dash I31 - luggage cover I42 - underseat drawer I43 - pollen filter I75 - Leather covered steering wheel with paddle shifters R11 - sportline (skinny) 6 spoke alloy wheels V11 - softouch auto shifting V31 - tachometer and clock Originally the panels were stream green but the owner changed them to Bay Grey Metallic by 2006. This car was spotted in 2006 at a Club smart Car event at Qualicum Beach, and has been a Vancouver car since Day one. The rear tires are 215/35R 16. Any help finding these tires would be most appreciated! Every tire store I’ve gone to including Mercedes say they do not have this size. MikeT Posted January 10, 2021 Author Share Posted January 10, 2021 smart didn't sell any BRABUS badged smarts in Canada in the 2005 model year, and even the 54 diesel BRABUS cars sold in 2006 didn't have wheels that large. So it's an owner conversion of a regular pure, pulse or passion model. I don't know where to get such tires, but you should contact Eddy Lai on Westminster Highway in Richmond at Flying Tiger Development.
