I've only cut my fuel consumption by 50%, which is still good...

I'm glad that James passed the info about this site on to you! I still think TPM is the best smart dealer in existence.

The smart is my first new car too. Lots of fun. I wish I had the bucks to buy another of the first generation models, which will be sold out by the end of this year.

When my oldest daughter goes to UVIC in 2007, we'll need another smart. I guess we'll get a used coup? for that, maybe a pure with glass roof. I can't imagine only getting 40 MPG in that 180 km daily commute....

That's to give a Classy A_s to the Marmot runs :biglaugh:

Besides I will be in very good company back there with the rest of the RRR crowd (Ruby Red Rules!)

Cheers,

Cameron

Looks like we won't have the smart for this weekend :cry2: but early next week - no fair - the wife is on call until Tuesday so the car was all mine if it showed up before then....

Maybe the marmots could each chip in a hundred bucks for a set, then every six months we do a panel swap. TPM might even give us a club discount.

(we're getting off topic here...honest, it's not my fault :tremble: )

Well Ive had my smart for a month now. Ive put 1137 kms on it and spent $34 in fuel. ( Thats why I got it BTW ) The dealer recommended winter tires but so far, it has exceeded my expectations in every department. I find it noisy though on acceleration. I watched this group for a couple weeks now and have learned more here than from the manual that came with the car. soon as I have the time,, I post a pic of the smart.

It took some time but I have managed to register as Wheel_man. I was on that other site (MB) and was told that this is where it is at!! I met some of you at the Toronto gathering on March 10th, 2006. There were 11 other smarts there. Boy are we an interesting bunch!

I cannot help but modify everything that I have. Some of the mods so far to "Maxwell" are:

LED side lights, Signals and driving lights euro way, Auto Dimming rear view mirror, Power six way seats, Kompressor side emblems ( I wanted Kompressed but am still working on it), De-lipped air intake, Scoop and K&N filter, Factory style cruise control, Dual horns, Factory block heater, Ignition off power windows, right side PW switch, Oil pan with drian plug, Front mud flaps, Soft tip trans, Heated leather seats, Exhaust tips, rear window grip etc... ICE-Jensen WM9510TS 7" touch screen/widescreen reciever, 5 1/4" Clarion door speakers, Clarion SRV303 7 1/2" sub woofer, Kenwood 5 1/4" speakers mounted in the factory position, Pioneer center channel with 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound. I could go on but I think you get the idea. I have other vehicles but drive the smart 90% of the time. I would also like to clearify one thing, I did not detail "Maxwell" before the meeting on the 10th, that's how he looks ALL THE TIME!!! I have installed everything myself, I teach at Centennial College the Automotive/Truck programs, for the Licensed apprentices. I am not scared to get my hands dirty. I also have the parts and service manuals for reference. I am also into my 3rd widshield, the last one from Standard auto glass, they were the best at installing the glass. It was made by XYG. Total cost, $339.00 plus tax!! Installed, everything! Life time warranty for chips and stress cracks. My sister has a Black on black cab, so it MUST BE in my genes. Any how, any one with questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.

Jim (Wheel_man)

wow jim! are you sure that its still a smart car after all those mods!

If you'd like, you can create our own topic in this forum where you can update us on the mods you've made, and anything else you'd like to talk about :)

Weclome to the club!

Welcome Wheel_Man. Question about your heated seats; were they an aftermarket heated seat or did you modify the original smart seats? I would like to put in heated seats some time into my car but I am in no hurry. But I am interested in what you did for your car.
