Thanks! :D

Hmm... extremely short-term work? Which platform is your software going to run on, what language is it going to be written in? Do you let your coders work remotely? And, how much of a rush is it? (I'm doing quite a bit of OT at work right now... I just started, and they're already going to be giving me more money! lol) Who knows, I might have someone else in mind that could help you as well... (no guarantees though!)

This is too much fun, this BB... :)

Isn't Java a form of coffee? LOL Well, even if I wanted to, I don't work in Java, so I can't be help to you anyways. Sorry! (Too bad though, that could have been a good reason to visit! Write it off as a business expense... hmm... gears... turning... maybe there'd still be a way... maybe I need to start a business.... lol) Thanks for the offer though! :)

I just spotted a Smart when I was in Jasper over the weekend. Red on Black, just like what I'm looking for! Silly me, I forgot the digital camera at home - thus, no pics. :( I don't have any other info about it either, sorry! (The fiancee was driving, she wouldn't understand my desire/need to stop and check it out... heck, she just laughed at me when I started pointing and trying to say two words at the same time: "SmCaartr! SmaCrtar! Smart Car! Smart Car!" I did finally get it right... lol) I think that was the most excited I was all weekend! :P

Killer Deers?!

Oh crap. Why didn't anybody tell me BEFORE my family decided to move here like 23 years ago? It's all just some sort of great bit -- oh crap, what's that term again! (had to talk to the finacee to figure it out... though the closest she got was "Big Brother" which wasn't what I was trying to describe! Guess I suck at describing stuff... never join me in a game where you have to act out a word or phrase to get someone else to guess what it is...) consiracy. It's just one big conspiracy, I tell you. And just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean everyone's not out to get me! :P

Thanks for the welcome! :D

Killer Deers?!

Most of us would call them moose, eh? Big, majestic, territorial. They don't care for the deer wimping up the land, that's why they chase them out of the woods and onto the roadways.

HA HA HA

That's awsome. "Chase the out of the woods and onto the roadways." That's just WAY too funny!

I think I've only played that game like once in my entire life. How boring of me, eh! :|

I think I have a name for my Smart Car when it finally shows up. The fiancee is worried that I won't be at the alter if the Smart Car is delivered on the same day... and I'm horrible at lying... :tremble::yikes:

Well! What a day I've had. I went to the dealership, and the guy offered me the choice of THREE different Smarts! One was a cancellation from a customer, the other two were the floor models (one was the one that everyone gets to test drive - does this mean that he just wants to get rid of me? LOL). Well, I wasn't very interested in any of them, they didn't quite match what I was looking for. I took the fiancee for a quick drive in the Smart, she was really impressed - she's like: "You totally forget that you're in such a small car. It's really cool and very comfortable, it's a nice car!" I think I may have some competition for the driver's seat when the time comes, she liked it so much.

So...

So my fiancee went and BOUGHT ME A SMART!! We took it home right away!

Of course, it's the 1:50th scale version (blue on silver). But it's still fun!

Now, where's that camera so that I'll be able to take a picture of it sometime....

Careful - sounds like the bait and switch to me - you finally get the real smart and she argues that the little one is your's - the big one is her's.Funny feeling that is what is going to happen in my situation - "you can drive the Jeep!" "extra set of keys ?- what extra set of keys ?- there is only one set and they are mine!" "you can drive it when I am done! When will I be home? Latter! Much latter!" - LOL :biglaugh: The wife is getting the seats re-covered in the Jeep as my Xmas present- I smell a conspiracy!Oh well the passenger seat is comfy too.Cheers,Cameron

Ha, ha. You poor fellow! (RSB takes careful notes, for future reference!)DCS - don't forget to tell us when you get the big car!! (That's the one that will be yours - right?)

Conspiracy indeed! The fiancee just got the new Vibe (which she also really likes) about 6 months ago. I'm hoping that'll be enough to keep her in her vehilce and me in mine - but for some reason, I doubt it, because she ALREADY asked to borrow it to take it to work a "few times" (the last time I heard that, she "borrowed" the vehicle from me for 2 years! LOL) This time it'll be more of a fight - last time, she didn't have a vehilce that she could use, this time she does! (She just wants to show it off at work, I said that I'd bring it in to her work instead! I think that's an acceptable option.... "welcome to MY world" eh?)<Rant>With the fiancee driving all the time, I find that I can easily get OUT of driving. Let someone else have the headache of being cut-off, getting mad at other drivers, being tail-gated, and having the increased heart rate and blood pressure! I found that now when I drive, I'm much more relaxed. Who cares if I missed the turn-off, there'll be another one right away. If they cut me off, so what? They're just going to have to stop at the next light because it'll be red anyways, it's not like it's a race or anything. Save the emotional driving for when it matters, for when it's a REAL emergency. Seems like everyone out there might not agree with me, but hey, when they get the ticket, it won't be my fault!</Rant>I've heard that "when I'm done" before... when she was done with it, it was falling apart and we went to the dealership and traded it in (we had spent almost 4 grand [OUCH] in 4 months trying to fix it, and we knew about some big-ticket items that were coming up... so if you recently bought a '98 Malibu in Deep Red with tinted windows, the front bug deflector and the window visors and leather and a sunroof... then two things - 1) sorry! and 2) why are you here, shouldn't you be over at the n-body forums? LOL) Hopefully it doesn't end up like this for you! (I think most of our problem is that it was getting old, and I wasn't the original driver, I think it came from a rental place... which would explain a lot of things........)(Turns out that the camera isn't here, some of our family is borrowing it... they'll probably be borrowing it for a couple of months! LOL Oh well...)Yes, I will certainly be mentioning when mine actually comes in. Just watch my signature, I update it twice monthly to reflect the approximate expected delivery date. I think I'll be at the dealership at 3 in the morning when they're unloading it as well, taking pictures of the delivery of my baby. LOL I know, I'm crazy - but it's fun! :D

As spinner said elsewhere, that's the ZEN of smart....I too drive mine slowly and don't give a rat's rump about the road ragers. These are things that driving the smart has taught me. I love it :lover:

That may be so (the Zen of the Smart) - but I don't actually have mine yet! Still four months away (approx. - still don't have a PO number yet! lol). I learned this just by watching the fiancee drive around and get mad at other people for the same things that she was doing and making last-second decisions as to where to turn/et cetera. If driving the Smart will make me even MORE patient - all the better! :DDarn road ragers... get my blood boiling I tell yah! LOL (Just kidding!)Oooooh, off to work in the falling-apart (not quite but close enough) 81 Olds that get like 30 l / 100 kms... eeash.... now can you guess why I'm REALLY looking forward to my Smart?!?

Well, you know what would happen if you DID happen to drive by me in your Smart.

I'd start jumping up and down, pointing and going - "Smart Car! Smart Car! Smart Car!" and I'd have this huge and stupid grin on my face. And then my fiancee would just roll her eyes at me... but I don't care! They're SUCH cool cars! So, please don't do a Drive By Smarting when I'm driving, I'd end up being a hazard on the road!! LOL

We had dinner with another couple last night (that I haven't seen for a while) and we told them that I was getting a Smart. They were totally surprised! Then they started asking questions about it... the husband thought that it might be good for him to go to work in, because it'd get better gas mileage than his truck (surprised?), and he doesn't need all that room. And he was totally surprised that he could pick one up for under 20g's! Sounds like they might be interested. :) Yay!

And then they got to see what I currently drive. They were like - "Well, if you get hit in THAT, you should be FINE." I told them that I WAS hit in it, rear-ended (I was stopped at a red light, the other guy didn't slow down enough on the ice to not hit me), and that's why I've had back&neck problems and have been going to a chiropractor and a masseuse, which have really helped, but I'm still not 100% yet. Close though... soon... soon.... In short, I wasn't actually fine being hit in that car. Concerned about the safety of a Smart? Then why aren't you concerned about your safety in your current vehicle? :BlahBlah:

Well, it's been a while, but I've been rather busy. Doing silly little things like get married, go on a honeymoon, pick up my car, get the windows tinted, work lots, and right now, I'm exporting movies from that crazy Windows Movie Maker for a funeral of one of the wife's cousins (funeral is on Thursday, they need the video for tomorrow morning, being Wednesday - it's been about 14 hours of work so far, with most of it coming from having to edit the original images that were compiled and rotate-impaired scans, oh well, it just keeps me up late at night!), so yeah...That car is a BLAST. Even better than the test drives!I've gotta find more posts to blab in now. :biglaugh:I hope you like the pics! (sorry, the website in the sig only works in like Opera and IE - I wrote some REALLY lazy HTML, sorry FireFox users!)Later....

Website works for me (a Firefox user)! :) Sweet car. :DJust curious, is yours from Weber? That brown building in the background of some of your pictures looks like Weber Centre, but yours has no Weber Motors decal. (I guess a lot of those pictures are from when the car was just delivered, so it wouldn't have the decal then!)

Posted

Hm... some FF users have reported troubles, especially when trying to bring up the larger images (no HTML at all, just a JPG!). I suppose either they're unlucky or you are lucky! :D

It -IS- from Weber, and the images that actually show the back of the vehicle were from when it was firstly delivered, as you guessed. :) But, if you take a look at my car now, that sticker has been removed (really, it just peeled off!) - though I don't have a pic showing that corner of the car.... Oh, and the bike isn't mine, it's one of my friends, those pics with the bike are from the same day that he bought the bike, and I took a few shots for him and to show the size difference between my car and his bike (it almost belongs in one of the "What makes your car feel small" posts! lol).

And thanks!

I need more pics to show the tint job, methinks....
