diesel4me Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I have a 2006 450 that I was driving back in December when I hit a pot hole & broke the left front coil spring. The top nut was rusted to the strut shaft threads so I had to make an aluminum clamp & heat the nut with a micro torch to break it loose. I ordered new springs from eBay but couldn't find a replacement strut dust cover on eBay. I ordered one from Smart Parts Direct on June 15th but they haven't notified me whether they had it in stock, it was back ordered or if they shipped it yet. They haven't responded to any of the emails I sent. They did charge my credit card promptly though. Are any other brand strut covers interchangeable with the 450 in case Smart Parts Direct doesn't come through with the part? There are no Smart Car parts distributors in Ohio that I know of. I'd like to drive the car again before 2014. Quote
bilgladstone Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Like other UK parts shops, the best (maybe the only) way to get them to answer your questions is to telephone and speak to them in person.Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question.Bil Quote
dmoonen Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Talk to your local MB dealership, they should have it or order it in for you. . Quote
diesel4me Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Thank you both for your help. I received the dust cover this morning. Marked on the invoice was my request: "Please send me an email when you ship my part so I have an idea when to expect delivery." Either they didn't read it or didn't have time to send an email. Anyway, 10 days is a fast delivery time from the UK so I can't complain about Smart Parts Direct's service. Quote
lebikerboy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 They're not great at communicating but do finally come through. Quote
