notso5
Happy new owner of a previously loved 2005 Smart Car here.Recently my driver side parking light burned out. I've browsed many posts here but haven't found one explaining how to replace the parking light bulb. I looks from the outside that it's a small bayonet type bulb that can only be removed after taking off the lens. I did pull off the electrical connector but the bulb doesn't seem to have its own holder.Anyone here change one before?
Alex
Are you talking the round side marker light just in front of the door, or the pod thingy on the rear wheel well? The round side marker is a "sealed" (not well sealed!) unit, the pod thingy is a bulb and easy to change once you remove the wheel well panel. TO Ed
If you mean the bulb beside your headlight bulb, I replaced mine by removing the large plastic lenses. It was fairly easy to do while the front panels were off the car. Gave me an opportunity to clean the inside of the plastic housing. I did the other side also. MikeT
No need to take the lenses off: reach through the grille panel and twist out the bayonnet base, throw another 194 bulb in there and it's all good. 30 second job.

Getfuzzy
If you're like me and need to see how its done to understand, go to Youtube. Search under "Smart 450 cdi bulb replacement". I opted to take off the front panels as I also wanted to do the euro and side marker turn signal mod as well as led headlights and making the regular turn signals into DRLs.
