frmg0014 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Are wheels from different year fortwos interchangeable? I'm interested in a set for sale and it is from a 2009 Fortwo. The seller insists that the wheels will not fit a 2006 Smart Fortwo CDI. I always thought they were all the same except for the slightly wider front tires of the newer models??? Quote
MikeT Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 The offsets are different than the 450....it may be possible to use them though, I think Huronlad for one has some information about this. Send him a message. Quote
Huronlad Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 The fronts swap between the 450 and 451 with no issue, offset are the same. There is just not as much room to put wider tires under the front of a 450, sticking with OE sizes(145 or 155) will be no issue. Putting 451 rears on the 450 will have the outer edge of the tire closer to the inner fender but by all accounts there is no issue as long as you stick with the 175 tire. 1 Quote
frmg0014 Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) ok sounds good. If there are no fitment issues then I'm going for the set. Thanks for the help Edited January 5, 2015 by frmg0014 Quote
smart142 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I've seen the 451 rims rub the rear shocks when put on the 450. Quote
Huronlad Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Indeed if you are putting 451 rear wheels on a 450 you need a spacer to get as close to the -1 offset as possible. Quote
frmg0014 Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Anyone know a good place to get a set of spacers for the rear? And I'm guessing 5mm should be enough to avoid any fitment issues? Edited January 5, 2015 by frmg0014 Quote
Huronlad Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) You do not need or want spacers for this application. Eibach makes spacers for the smart. Edited January 5, 2015 by Huronlad Quote
Duck Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Is it OK to put stock 450 rims+tires on a 451? Quote
Wild! Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Yes they fit, with no issues. That's 450 rims and tires to 451. Edited November 30, 2016 by Wild! Quote
