More info on the 2016 Smart ForTwo is now available!

I guess they've been TC certified, the one I saw at West Island last Tuesday was put on the showroom floor on Friday afternoon. But that means no test drive until they get more, maybe later this week.

I'm not sure how it "gets smaller" with each generation; the 451's boot was wider and deeper than the 450's, I can't imagine the 453's being smaller than the 451's.

Most likely summer of 2017.

If you're in London I can show and demo my 2016 ED for you.

Thanks Glenn!

How'd you get your hands on one already?  I couldn't find any info on thesmart.ca website.

Ours is due  to arrive in Vancouver in March...:)

Right on!  How does one go about reserving?  There doesn't appear to be any reference on the official website.

Mine is the 2016 ED on the 451 platform.

The new ED will be on the 453 platform

Ahhh, gotcha.  I met up with Dragon on the weekend and she let me take hers for a rip.  Totally hooked!  Pondering.

I'm pretty sure ALL of the 451 ED cars brought to Canada were high-spec models with polycarbonate roof or cabrio. Mine has the roof, cruise control and upgraded audio/nav system. The only thing I wish it had was heated mirrors.

If you can, try and take a 453 out for a test drive. They're an absolute hoot! With an electric drivetrain, they'll be pretty much the most fun you can have on four wheels.

Based on my experience driving a couple of 453s, the cargo area may be bigger on paper, but with the whole car being much more bulbous and rounded in every way, it's less usable space for carrying anything rectangular. The opening is definitely smaller.

At Thanksgiving, I had had to leave some stuff behind in my car (451) because it wouldn't fit in the Car2Go 453 I was taking from Toronto to Kitchener.

I haven't measured, but my impression is that while the 453's cargo area is deeper (front to back) than my old 450, the rear hatch opening is not as wide or ergonomic, making loading and unloading large items somewhat awkward. Bulbous is a very apt description.

I've only driven a few 451s (often car2go), and haven't used their cargo areas much, but the 450 & 451 seemed to be able to handle similar loads with similar ease.
