Owen Sound Sun Times

Six people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a four-vehicle crash in Owen Sound on Tuesday.

Just before 11 a.m., police, fire and paramedics responded to the intersection of 9th Ave. E. and 6th St. E.

The police investigation found that the driver of a 2006 Smart Car travelling south on 9th Ave. E. disobeyed a red light and collided with a Ford pick-up truck that had been travelling westbound on 6ht St. E. , it said in a news release from Owen Sound police.

The force of the collision caused a chain reaction crash where the Ford struck a Chevrolet pick-up, which collided with a Toyota Matrix, the news release said.

The intersection remained closed for just over an hour for cleanup and while police investigated.

Three tow trucks removed the vehicles involved, three of which had major damage, it said in the news release.

An 83-year-old Williamsford resident was charged with failing to stop for a red light.
