smart142 Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 How did you get it registered in Texas? I'm betting yours will have a gas engine and the Canadian ones are diesel. The rest of the running gear should be similar. Enjoy! Quote
jaimemusic Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 hello, the guy that I bought the car from he shiped it to me to Texas I just payed for the car and the shiping, the comstoms here they gave me one year to make it legal, I know they are not legal here but I know some persons that have one that they made they car legal here in the usa, they just have to install what they ask you for like here in Texas they want A/C by law because of the weather here.Im not the only one with a smart car here there is another guy with the same car that I have, I met him already, but I dont know if you heard about that a company was selling 12 smart cars in California but they didnt have engine well this guy bought one of these cars plus he had to buy an engine which he is still waiting for it. anyways, I wanted to ask if some one know where the horn is located at? because when they ship the car here the horn wasnt working you know when you get close to big cars sometimes they dont see you and it gets kind of scary being beside one of them and not having a horn If someone knows where it is I would be nice to know. greetings from texas. I also put a pic of smart (not my car) Quote

SM4RT_JMC Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 For the most part I'd imagine as far as Semi's are concerned, they'd probably mess up most cars on the road. Although they're plenty of stories out there of careless semi-drivers I'd think that truckers having to rely on a licence for income have a lower incident of accidents than other vehicals. (Cool pick with the Smart and Rig) Something I learned from a trucker, always push your coffee lid tab in to create a back-valve preventing excess spilling when shifting. As far as visibilty goes it there are a few things going for you. People will notice it more and it has a higher profile than most eco-class cars. Just don't merge uphill onto the Inter-State in the Misty Mountains and you should be ok (almost got flattened in a Sunfire doing that.) Welcome aboard laddie. Quote
Cait Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 texas!! cool! Welcome to the board! I'm not sure what you're saying about te horn.. you cant find it? For our cars the horn doesnt work unless the car is turned on, and its at the 3 and 9 points on the stearing wheel if you're thinking about it as a clock... But if you mean the mechanical parts of the horn.. i have NO idea... Quote
Blair Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Clicky here to a thread about horns, horn sounds and the replacement there-of. Welcome to the forum. Quote
SM4RT_JMC Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Here's a mod to try if you want to squeak through a Texas Motor Vehicals Regulations Inspection This would be a world first! The only problem is to find a steers rack that wouldn't exceed the width of the Smart. Horns... Maybe you were talking about another kind. Quote
