DangerDan
Given that I seem to be one of the few 453 owners on here (or indeed in all of Canada), I was still curious to find out what others might be averaging on a per-tank basis. I'm currently at 7800 km on the odometer, and haven't reset the bordcomputer since buying the car, and it tells me that it's averaging 6.0 L/100 km. My Spritmonitor's tally is at 6.12 L/100 km, which seems well within the car's margin of error. After averaging 4.6 L/100 km in my old 450 cdi, I'm happily surprised by this gasser's performance so far. How's everyone else doing? smartzuuk
Wish I knew! I'm pulling just 4.6 to 5.0 typically from my cdi, as I just cannot be driving 80 kmh, and I am much more city driving than I used to be. 6.0 sounds okay I guess, better than I did in the
MikeT
6.1 is close to what our Fiesta does, but in a more suburban setting. Not bad, but not close to the cdi, as expected - neither is the performance comparable. I gather the Cabriolet is going to be rated slightly higher for fuel consumption than the closed version. At least, the EPA in the USA knocks 1 MPG off the open version. BTW, I "built" a cabriolet on the website and a loaded one costs $30K. That's Tailor Made territory! smartnhappy
I typically see 4.2 to 4.8 during city-only in the '05. Pure highway is usually 3.6 to 4.8, depending on speed and wind. I've got the 'I can't drive 55' syndrome also, plus the A/C really bruises mileage.
darren
I was quite impressed with the fuel consumption numbers on the 453 loaner I had a couple of months back, and I was giving it a pretty good thrashing. It seemed at least as good, if not better than, any 451 I've driven, and it seemed way more peppy. The new powertrain is pretty impressive. DangerDan
We just got back from a 1000 km road trip, the back hatch loaded to the gills with camping gear. Averaged 5.1 L/100 km, mostly on highways and winding country roads.
MikeT
Well that's very good.
DangerDan
We've now passed 10000 km in the 453, total average is still an even 6.0 L/100 km, with an almost even mix of city/highway driving.
