MikeT Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 Yup. I remember 12 years ago when 16 cars a month was "bad" sales for TPM..... Quote
Silver Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Well, cost more than a reliable Honda or Toyota, cost more to maintain than a Mercedes, has the reliability of a Yugo. 16 huh? Quote
MikeT Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 April 2017: Canada: 22 USA: 365 ....and the head of smart Ms. Winkler said today that there are no plans to pull out of the North American market despite the discontinuation of the gasoline powered 453. Hmm, there will be no 455 for NA, I predict. Quote
Huronlad Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Once all the M-B EVs come to market, will there really be much of a need for the smart brand after this generation? Quote
MikeT Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 Not from a corporate average fuel economy perspective! Quote
MikeT Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 August 2017 Canada: 25 USA: 226 (94 were EDs) Quote
MikeT Posted November 4, 2017 Author Posted November 4, 2017 This is going to be the worst ever sales year for smart in Canada.....and the USA. Quote
LilOrca Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Got mine as one of the 324 on January 21st. $14,300 US for a 2016 Pure after all taxes and fees. nothing in addons, but it was an offer made in response to me going in for the $89 a month 3 year lease. - and they gave me 72 months no interest! paperwork says it was 12 something for the car, so comparisons I've read to other makes... not quite right. best part is the Mercedes dealer I bought it from picks it up and drops at from my house 75 miles away from him when I need any service. A check engine light had him replace a slightly cracked hose completely free with the delivery/pickup and a loaner Mercedes for the week. no WAY that would ever be matched by anyone else on a bargain like this one can't be happier 1 Quote
MikeT Posted November 25, 2017 Author Posted November 25, 2017 16 of the 33 sold in September in Canada were electric 453s. Quote
MikeT Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 November 2017 Canada: TBA USA: 130 Quote
MikeT Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 Hmm, I can't edit the post above so I will add that for November 2017, smart sold in: Canada: 21 cars. In normal circumstances there would be 2018 electric drives in stock now and moving off the sales floors, but there is likely a back stock of two or three months of 2017 electric drives (Huronlad would know for sure). Will North America ever see 2018 models? Quote
MikeT Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) 39 of the 46 smarts sold in October 2017 were electrics. November figures for the ED should come out before year end, but cannot be higher than 21! Edited December 5, 2017 by MikeT Quote
MikeT Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 468 smarts were sold in Canada in all of 2017. Quote
Blaine Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 40 minutes ago, MikeT said: 468 smarts were sold in Canada in all of 2017. And only 75 of those were EVs. Compared that to 2014 when they sold 561 451 EDs in Canada. What a massive failure by Mercedes Benz. Quote
MikeT Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) 75 might get closer to 100 because December figures for the ED have not been released yet. But it's still a crazy-bad failure of product and marketing. Edited January 4, 2018 by MikeT Quote
