Did we talk about a window static sticker some time waaayyy back (like 2 weeks ago!)

Now that we have the smart nod for our logo, can we get something to advertise the web site to put on our cars??

We might see if DangerDan's new card that he'll do up sometime would be suitable.

Or were you thinking of the logo only?

I was thinking just URL

Inside magnetic, bottom of hatch glass.

We are getting quotes on that stuff right now. We are in the process of getting the logo done in Vector (EPS) so it can be used for any task.

Just bear with us.

Couldn't we incorporate the logo right into the url?

www. Club smart c :smart: r .com?

Am I mis-guided in thinking that people would figure it out??

But, it doesn't matter to me. As long as it has the URL...

.ca/forums

The web site itself is www.clubsmartcar.ca OR www.clubsmartcar.com

At present the web site (which is still under construction) main page automatically forwards to the forums.

However, the main page will also have a link directly to the forums.

I believe it would be easier to advertise www.clubsmartcar.ca than to add any other subdirectories. After all, Club Smart Car will ultimately be more than just the forums, although the forums will be a very important part. I hope that makes sense.

I think I would rather point people to the forums rather than the website. You will for sure be putting a link to the website on the forums page and that way people will get to, and read the forums first and then go to the web site. I for one, have never had anything to do with forums before the smart came into my life. I always knew that the forums existed in the world but never was interested in taking part. Due to the lack of info for canadian smarts I gave in and came to the forums a MBC. Now I am so glad that I did. If you were to ask around your workplace, if you work with layfolk as I do, and ask how many have used forums, you may find that all the people you talk too have never used a forum.

I believe the reason I never used a forum before smart is because the websites I would visit had enough info for what what I needed that I did not need to involve myself in those forums. Besides the forums were just for Computer Nerds.

I really think that to draw a new smart owner or wanna-be to the forums first is the way to go.

IMHO STCIKER: clubsmartcar.ca/forums

clubsmartcar.ca is the way to go. That is the website and that is where poeple should make first contact.

Once they are there, it is up to them which link they want to go to. Maybe they just want to find out about the smart car first and a link to smart Canada is a natural. I am sure there will be a link to the forum and those interested will follow it.

Also the shorter the better as far as being remembered by someone driving past or following a smart.

I also would advocate that we use to ".ca", as we are firstly a Canadian site/club and should be proud of it. I would also refrain from intermingling with ".com" in the interest of consistancy.

Bud I think you are a perfect example why not to use forum. If a person has never been to a forum, and would only go there reluctantly as you did, then it could be a turnoff if it appeared on the sticker. From your speculation that very few, if any, have used a forum, then that in itself is reason not to promote it on the sticker. Why advertise something that people are inherently not interested in?

I don't know if I know what I am saying is write or wrong for attracting people to the forums, as I said it is only an opinion. :lookaround:

If you're worried about attracting people into the forums, the best plan is to use the website address for your sticker and have various news items on the front page that refer to topics in the forum. E.g. you could have a blurb about the latest How To posted and give a link to the forum topic for that howto. Then people get the info they came for and learn about how forums work at the same time.

NOW THAT's a good Idea!!!!!

Everyone should be using clubsmartcar.ca the www. is up to you, it works with both.

The .com should not be used unless your giving it to an american. We may have a US part of the site if there is interest.

The .com is not currently going to the new site. It's going to the old location and being redirected. I want to use that for testing for a little bit before I move it too.

The forums will be a small part of the entire site. The News, FAQ's, links are all important too.

I'll be adding some website stuff next week.

Oh you guys will be able to have a look and sign up to it... It's not a secret. I just don't want it to confuse people.

I don't want to confuse new people with a site that's not finished.. But if the already members see it that's cool.

Peep said it, along with rubber boots and gun racks.

I belive someone is making them????????

Yes. WE just got the EPS of the logo finished but I won't be able to have a look at it until I get back Sunday. Then we can get the rest of the goodies done.

It's moving along pretty darn fast. It's only been like 3 weeks.

I'm going to try and have clubsmartcar.ca in my window by the 18th...

I just got back. Let me check over the new EPS file of the logo and then I can post it for people to use.

Give me a day.

Thanks.

hmmm I just skimmed the thread, what did you guys have in mind to advertise for the site? I think vinyl decals would be the cheapest and safest way to do this. I know someone back in Calgary who can help me cut out any amount of whatever size decal we want, whether it be the website addy or even a symbol...that and it won't be too expensive if we get enough people ordering them. I can buy a lot for the site and ship them accordingly to people at no extra cost. Let me know if you guys are interested...

BTW what kind of logo have you guys come up with?!?!

Are you speaking of the kind that will stick magneticly to the rear window, on the inside, and can also be seen through. That is what I would really like to see, for safety reasons if nothing else. I have a "For Sale" sign like that, that I bought from Canuck Tyre a number of years back and it worked rather well.

Posted

nope it's not magnetic. I mean vinyl as in the sticker type. It sticks to either the inside or outside of your car relatively easy. It also does not leave a mark if you so choose to remove it in the future...same material that is used for my graphic on my smart.
