IMSMRT Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Hey Mike I saw that same Swiss VW here around that time too! S Quote
MikeT Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Cool! It is unusualy old for a European-registered vehicle....most cars on the road in the Germanic countries are about 3 years old it seems.... Quote
Speedie Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Saw a RHD van - think it was a Mazda the other day - kind of made me do a double take as I approached from the normal driver's side. Cheers, Cameron Quote
Yeti Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Driving trough Saltlake last February I passed the oscar mayer weiner mobile so for a few minutes motorist weren't staring at me and taking pictures wile driving 75 mph. Quote
Speedie Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Spotted this Suzuki Every van today 660 CC turbo - RHD - heck - it is not any wider than the smart - bit longer - and just as cute.Cheers,Cameron Quote
MikeT Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Yeah these RHD mini vehicles (all 15 years old and most with RHD headight beams) are a dime a dozen around here now. Quote
Speedie Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Think there is a company in Vancouver importing them now. Know of at least 2 scargo's in Victoria alone. http://japanoid.com/ Cheers, Cameron Quote
MikeT Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Parked at TPM Nanaimo yesterday was one of those odd-ball Volkswagen Golf Country 4x4 thingys from 15-17 years ago, jacked up to the sky. They were only sold in Europe and have brush guards on the front and rear. It had a for sale sign on it. European version of course..... Quote
mkt Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 Parked at TPM Nanaimo yesterday was one of those odd-ball Volkswagen Golf Country 4x4 thingys from 15-17 years ago, jacked up to the sky. They were only sold in Europe and have brush guards on the front and rear. It had a for sale sign on it. European version of course..... hmmm... I've never been so confused when looking at a vehicle before Quote
mkt Posted November 17, 2006 Author Posted November 17, 2006 The Biagini Passo edition is scary to me. Looks like the spookiest Cabrio I've seen ever Quote
mkt Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 Nothing too odd, but I've seen about 6 or 7 Ferrari F430 Spyders over the past 2-3 days... and a neat Ford GT/GTX1 Quote
mkt Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Time to revive this thread... I saw a TVR Tuscan today wearing lovely british plates. That is a MEAN sounding car, even from 2 lanes away. I thought it wanted to suck in me into its intake and spit me out.Dead freakin' sexy though.. shame they went bust Quote
Duck Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I saw a Suzuki X90 today, I haven't seen one for seriously like 10 years. What a weird thing. It's the size of a four-person car with seats for 2. What's the point of that? Maybe that's why it sold so poorly.-Iain Quote
deezle Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 smartzuuck has a very different opinion of them. There are a few in Victoria in mint condition. Quote
Duck Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I saw a Triumph either TR7 or 8 today on the DVP. What an awesome car!! The girl driving it looked like she was made of pot and hadn't washed her hair in 20 years.-Iain Quote
MikeT Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Sort of like the car then I think the TR7/8 is a major reason why British Leyland is no more. They were rubbish! There used to be scads of them in Vancovuer in the 70s and early 1980s, a friend owned one until it blew up.Trivia: the TR7 engine and the early SAAB 99 engine are the same. Quote
MikeT Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I saw a Unimog U500 driving on the Island Highway ten minutes ago. It was towing a trailer with a wood chipper on it, and cruising in road gear at ~110 km/h. I gave its driver the thumbs up sign when he passed me. It was licensed in BC.This one was probably about a year or two old, and was most likely sold by Mross Import Service in Langley BC.I wish it had been stationary because it would have been great to get a shot of the smart next to this three and a half metre high Mercedes truck. For those of you who don't know what a Unimog U500 is, check this download out: u500_euro4_DE_1_.pdf Quote
Speedie Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Saw a brand spanking new one here in Victoria the other day - didn't even have anything mounted on the back. Pretty impressive when you can look straight under a vehicle!Cheers,Cameron Quote
Kofångar-Lasse Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 . Hi, the first pic is definitivelly a paintshop work, but the other two pics, what do You think ? Quote
mkt Posted May 20, 2007 Author Posted May 20, 2007 I think I'm going to call the number on the side of the smart.Maybe it's a smart for good ole boys? Quote
Speedie Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Well the week is definately off to a strange and wonderful car spotting time -Sunday - the world's largest human powered bike in DuncanMonday - a T-RexTuesday - an IT carCheers,Cameron Quote
Francesco Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Around a big suburb in a big city you get to see a lot of what you all call oddball cars all the time, so they're not all that odd here. What we don't yet have out east is the Kei invasion. The rage nowadays seems to be RHD ricers. A kid down the block, who must be a dope dealer because he changes cars every few months and most of them are worth more than all three of my cars combined, is currently ahead of that curve locally. He's in a riced RHD 93 or 94 300ZX Turbo now. His 20s alone are probably worth as much as my fortwo. In this general area, there are perhaps a few dozen current Ferrari, Lambos and Masers, hundreds (if not thousands) of plebeian Porsches, Benzes and Bimmers, about a half-dozen McLaren SLRs, two F1s (one of them is an LM), six Carrera GTs, a handful of Elises and two Exiges, a GT40, and many, many more desirable vintage exotics and muscle cars. But none of them I'd call oddball. OTOH, there was a garage a couple of miles away that started importing Fiat 500s a few years ago, cleaning them up, and turning a huge profit. He had a long wait list, and was bringing over as many as five a month. I don't think he did this for more than a year, though. At first I saw many of them puttering around the city, but lately I see one once every so often. Quote
Duck Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Moaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn :( :( I have a new sporadic ADD-based obsession that I'm sure will pass in about 5 hours. I want a Kei van more than anything. Someone in Guelph has one, and it is TEH AWESOME. I think it is either a Daihatsu Hijet or Suzuki Super-Carry - you know, it's one of the square ultra-tall ultra-narrow ultra-tiny vans. I tried to get close enough to see the manufacturer sticker on it but then a transport truck got in the way the last time I saw him. I think he mows lawns with it because it always has a push lawn mower in the back. It is the most incredible thing I have ever seen in my life and I love it so much!! Me with a Kei Van in Washington DC last year -Iain Quote
