They should stick to their grass roots and keep 450 body and simply add electricity  if possible and forget trying to redesign the wheel.  OR better yet simply go back to the CDI 2005 version and make it better.

if i had more time and energy id try and squeeze an old 80s simple carbureted twin cam toyota engine into a 450

 

or maybe a 90's fuel injected camry 4 banger...those things were virtually indestructible

IF I was 20 years younger I also may be thinking about an engine swap....Even my last Echo would have been a sleeper for sure!  @005 Echo..lasted 560,000 kms of hard running.
