Sydney Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 i drive my 450cdi's and my 451 regularly. i enjoy driving both. one thing that i have noticed is in automatic mode there is quite a difference between when they shift. i know that the 450 has a 6 speed and the 451 only a 5 speed. but it seems like the 451 shifts way sooner than the 450. city driving, 1st to 2nd around 20klm, 2nd to 3rd around 30klm, 3rd to 4th around 40klm then tries to shift to 5th around 70klm. i have no clue on what rpm (no tach in this car). does this seem normal? Willys Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 If I recall correctly, it's getting longer and longer since the last time i have driven my car due to COVID etc....this is close to where i shift my car to get my best fuel numbers but we have 6 gears and I shift out of 4th around 60, out of 5th at 80.....so maybe it's normal...? Sydney Posted June 15, 2021 Author Posted June 15, 2021 i did some searching thru older posts. and found a few good ones with lots of info. it seems like what i am noticing in the 451 shift points, is normal. 1 Quote
stickman007 Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 I drive both of mine regularly too. The 451 does seems to like keeping the rpms low. I rarely drive my C1 in auto mode. 1 Quote
Huronlad Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 The 451 will shift up at less than 3000 rpm. One of the reasons I drive in manual mode. Quote
