brd Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) A Spanish company will be selling an electric Smart Fortwo “clone” (my description) called the Silence S04 started in 2022Q1. https://s04.silence.eco/?lang=en It looks to me like it’s inspired by the 450 appearance. Pricing starts at €7500 (about $11,00CDN). It’s a two seater with a 149km range and top speed of 90km/hr plus a cargo capacity of 313L and weight of 450kg. Interesting feature is that it can use up to two “trolley style removable batteries which feature wheels and a handle so they can be transported conveniently and safely.” So you can wheel away your battery to recharge it. Willys Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Hmmm....I like the look of it.....range is almost acceptable for my use on a good day.....but acceleration 0-5km/hr <7 seconds...????? Must be a typo....or am I reading it all wrong? 90 km/hr top speed isn't great either, but...maybe bearable..? Plus being able to remove one battery and take it in to charge, not bad.....and the thing is cheap at $11,000 no..? Hmmmm./...? Maybe the next model will be just a bit better speed and range wise...? Yes even a bit more expensive,,but more useful. Quote
Willys Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Sure piss on the parade....lol Of course not at that price...lol......the big manufacturers will never allow a cheap version of their monsters on our streets...right or wrong...? Quote
MikeT Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 It looks like a slightly more luxurious version of those one person mobility scooters. Not sure where one could be used actually. Quote
Willys Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Maybe but with a top speed of 90 km/h I can't see it being sold as that, but who knows....maybe other countries allow electric scooters to get to those speeds...lol Yes I know England has had faster motorized buggies in the past....using motorcycle controls....but this is using all conventional controls, isn't it..? We'll just have to wait and see....and as I said before, I can't see the bigger companies allowing a far less expensive close to what people want in an electric vehicle to compete with their hugely expensive models. They will force transport Canada to stop or slow these buggies down.....just like the Smart cars.....I bet the Smart car would have been far more value priced if transport Canada didn't get involved in the adjustments and changes required for them to be simply brought into the country. What they sold for was insane.... Quote
