sm4rtc4r Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) I am troubleshooting 3 lines on the dash. I took my vehicle to have Star Diag run on it and the TCM was determined to be faulty. Sent the TCM for repair but no luck. I have purchased a used TCM with the same part number as the original. Can anyone confirm for sure that the unit will require programming? With the new (used) TCM installed, I am able to move the shifter, the transmission goes into teaching mode (per the shifter motors shuffling) but still 3 lines on the dash. With both the original and new TCMs I get U0103 and 15/6 Electronic Lever Select Canbus faults. Thank you very much. Edited April 10, 2022 by sm4rtc4r More polite :) Quote
jwight Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Assume you have a 451 since you are in the US... I did find this online. indicating the TCM needs some sort of "flash" to use with your particular car - take it for what it's worth: https://mhhauto.com/Thread-Smart-451-TCU-TCM-coding-replace If you can find an independent shop that does a lot of Mercedes work they may be able to help you. Mjolinor Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 It does not need programming on a CDI 451 but it will forever read a non matching VIN with Star. There are no side effects from this as far as using the car goes. I cannot comment on a petrol one, I have never swapped it on a petrol. Quote
