Any worked 450 CDI injector for sale? one broke when removal.

Recommended Posts

Hi, Dear everyone.

I parked my 2005 fortwo CDI 450 for over 4 years. It could start before but in safe mode. I want to delete the EGR and bought stuff from Europe. But I find my fortwo could not start. replaced new battery and fuel but still could not start. So I worked on injectors. two of them were easy to remove, but the left one seized and tried many way and could not remove it (tools and lubricate). There were not information from Youtube and other website to have information how to remove seized injector.
In short, I bought special tool, and finally remove the injector. but already broke one part of it.
So I need get one injector and want to ask here, what is the best way to get one injector by reasonable price.

Thanks everyone for your suggestion.

Hmmm...best place to get an injector is the scrap yard "U-pick"  and pay for basically scrap metal pricing if possible. They know any old injector must be rebuilt and if not remind them.  I haven't had one that seized yet in the block but I have destroyed one in the vice trying to get the top nut free.....It slipped loose in the vice and caused similar damage....ruined.  I paid $20 a piece for my junk yard injectors, most scrapyards soon realize there is only so many Smart owners willing to work on these cars and they only have 2 years to profit from so to speak. That is a fancy tool you have there....interesting...Hmmm...tools.....Hmmm...lol.
I have a spare set of injectors but aren't done with them yet.....sorry.
IF all else fails I would say that damage is repairable enough to use that injector as I don't believe it's crushed in deep enough to effect anything once you massage it back into shape and clean up those threads.  imho.  I would definately give it a go thats for sure.
I also strongly suggest to buy new nozzles for your freshly sonic cleaner injectors and see how they work. The difference between new and sonic cleaner old nozzles is night and day if they have over 100,000kms on them  from what I have seen. I have rebuilt maybe 5 sets now.
Also learn from my last mistake on my own car, do not rebuild your injectors and not lube them well or they will rust internally and when you come to try and start the car they will instantly plug up your brand new nozzles forcing you to buy another new set.....AUGH!!!!!   Soak them in diesel fuel or some other form of lube if you plan to leave them sit for any length of time.   Just saying.  This is why I have a spare set sitting here waiting.

Also if you wish to do the job right, if you do not own a sonic cleaner deep enough to get at least half of the injector submerged buy one as simply spraying carb cleaner through the injector won't result in a good cleaning.  To each their own.
Hope this helps

Thank you very much! I got a used good one from our club member, I also use ultrasonic cleaner to wash them. I took apart of the damaged one, the inside is too complicated, so I did take apart these good ones to clean. when clean the engine and put them put. When I tried to start engine, it cranked several times then smelled something burned, and no response. I guess the starter got burned .  So far I  have no ideas about the starter fail yet.
Before fixing the injector, the starter could crank well, but after clean the injectors, the starter only crank several times and burned, I do not the cause, I just guess I should crank several times before put injectors back, maybe push something out of engine. Just guess.
Welcome all suggestions from the situation. Cheers!
