smartdriver
I own 3 2005 smartcars. A Passion Coupe 78,000 km, a Passsion Cabriolet 48,000 km and a Pulse Cabriolet 74,000 km. The bodies in all 3 are in very good condition, but one of the Cabriolets needs a new rear window. They have not been driven since January 2020 (the start of Covid) and as a result the alternators in all 3 are seized and it's possible that the rear brake drums on some of them might be seized. The Passion Coupe definitely needs a new alternator, but the two Cabriolets might get away with freeing the alternator armature. I've received a potential offer for all 3 from an individual with a flat bed trailer but before I accept I was hoping that those on this forum might give me some insight in what I might expect. I had also investigated some car donation companies such as Kidney Cars which offer tax deductions for donations. My marginal tax rate isn't likely to be high enough to make this avenue a worthwhile possibility. Getfuzzy
In BC and especially the Vancouver area, low mileage CDI's have gone up in their asking prices. I've seen a couple of CDIs (under 100,000kms) asking close to $10,000. I assume that they are probably rust free and not driven in winter given the low mileage but even if driven in the winter in Vancouver they are not exposed to much salt. I would guess that CDIs that are not driven in the winter in the GTA would have also gone up in value as well. It may be worth your while to sell them separately but I can see selling them all at once is enticing especially if you don't have the time to get them all in running shape. Willys
IMHO....I would get them all at least running and IF possible safety checked to get the numbers LLNs is talking about. I was going to gift our daughter's old car to Kidney cars and was shocked how little they offer?!!!! You basically gave them the car for a small tax write off. May as well give them away at the end of your driveway damn! That is if you don't want to help the kidney ass. so to speak....to each their own. It is a good ass. but...damn! It would be nice to know they possibly got back on the road running once again compared to being scrapped. Selling them as a package will get you far less compared to seperately imho especially if not running. But again to each their own and if you do not have the ability or time etc to get them in that condition then, you must do what you can do. Good luck.....
