Not sure why you would remove a good intercooler? Isn't the whole idea of the cooler to get cooler air into the engine to burn better?  Yes if you have a dead intercooler then maybe but you can buy good used inter coolers for not too much money?  Hmmm....?
I have deleted my EGR and also stripped one down to just the plunger mechanism and had that hanging on zip ties plugged in but completely blocked off besides that...it ran perfectly.  BUT, if you bought one of IZZY's emulators you got one of the best!  Stickman007 is his handle here if you need to get yourself one.  Excellent.

Interesting mod; not one I am familiar with at all! Removing the intercooler might not present a lot of issues in a cooler climate... but what about long uphill drives?

I assume you are going to run a Scanguage or equivalent and monitor the intake temp? AFAIK it's pretty accurate on a cdi - I used to monitor it hypermiling at very low loads in freezing temps, just out of curiousity.

I haven’t sold any emulators in a long time! Is it plug and play? I believe at this time I’m the only one that offers that.

I think deleting the IC could cause very high intake temps. Our little engine already has issues with intake valves chewing up. As smartzuum pointed out, the scangauge (or any OBD2 gauge) will read the IAT sensor off the IC. A better mod imho to help the engine breath better would be a catch can of some sort. But, curious to see the results.

The best way to gain space in our compact engine bay is the 2" lift...lol. Removing the EGR is a good start along with the many feet of water hoses running to the manifold etc.

Lifting the body up 2" off the sub frame meant I can get my hands on most parts without draining much blood. It didn't result in any negative body roll or handling issues. I have added taller tires and same sized wheels and rims on all four corners. Not an advertisement to lift your car but just the best way imho get space to work on our engines...lol, that is without removing the sub frame or dropping it down 10 " on longer bolts.....which is your other way of doing it.

Wow! Somebody took my v1 plug design from evilution/thingiverse and modified it! Good for them I guess…I don’t sell enough to care anymore. At any rate I will probably release my PCB and v3 plug files here so everyone can just make their own.

I agreed with Willys, the biggest advantage to the EGR delete apart from reliability is gaining more access to the engine.

@goatman1

I probably have some left over parts that u can have. Just pay for shipping and they’re yours. I know I have some plugs printed with ASA and some PCBs that requires pins and maybe a resistor to finish. How many do u need?

I also have a few bypass pipes made too. $10 each.

The power will suffer without an intercooler. My guess is you'd probably lose 20% at higher loads.

If you run a ScanGauge as I do, you can measure the intake air temperature and see the enormous work that the intercooler does to keep the intake air temperature as close to ambient as possible (usually 5-8 degrees C higher). Without it the intake charge air could be over 100°C on a hard climb even on a cool day, and that less dense air will absolutely hammer power output.

Mike nailed it.  When I got my car the intercooler fan didn’t work and the scoop was broken off.  My intake air temperature routinely was 40 c above ambient and we don’t have any significant hills here in southern Ontario.

thanks, that makes sense

when Man Builds replied about the temperature he said he only had 3 bubbles on the dash

i didnt know what he meant but then i clued in and realized he was talking about his coolant temps and wasnt measuring his intake air temperature

i got the emulator so ill tear into the motor this weekend and see how this intercooler works
