smartzuuk
Well, here it is! Spotted this one a couple weeks ago when it was listed a couple grand more. Izzy spotted the price reduction, and sent the link to me again.... And then 3 hours later I bought it. This will be officially the 10th smart that my name has been on the registration of. A 2006 passion cabrio, with a variety of added Brabus goodies. Here's a few pictures for now. It needs an intercooler right away, and because it's only fitted with 145 and 175 tires, I will take care of a small dent in one wheel and order up a pair of 195s and get this thing set up properly. The AC needs a recharge, and I will get out the little green and clean up the interior. There's probably suspension to deal with, and likely a few other fluids, but the oil wasn't overfilled! I will check the panels and the spoiler for any damage or missing connections, and start going through things a little bit here and there. I only have a day permit on it, so it's been brought back to Chilliwack from North Vancouver, and I will get the top off fully for the rest of the afternoon and evening and then into the garage it goes for clean up. smartzuuk
Definitely looks and drives better with the top and the windows down! I've had power mirrors before? Not sure. Maybe I did on the Canada 1's? @MikeT As I understand it, I am the fourth owner of this smart. The FJ is another toy. I recently picked up a set of nice 4Runner wheels/tires for it that everybody takes off and sells cheap.... I even managed to buy a matching spare! stickman007
I think most of the Passion trims have power mirrors. Awesome you finally got back into a Smart!!! “one of us…one of us…one of us….”
smartzuuk
Took Cynthia out for a drive in the car; she still has a very styling smart hat! Also thought what the heck, maybe I will be able to get a picture of smartzuuk # 1 and 10 together. Not quite. It was running when I had spotted it last year in Chilliwack, and I saw it at another address a second time... Went by both addresses and found it in the driveway of where I originally spotted it. And knocked on the door and talked to the owner of it for at least 30 minutes... !! A few war stories! Including a front driver side wheel that had not been torqued somewhere that he had just gotten new tires from... And all of the lugs did come off, but the wheel actually got stuck in an angle inside the wheel well so it wasn't quite that disastrous... Not likely this one's going to end up becoming collector plate eligible, LOL... Currently in need of an alternator and thermostat and who knows what else.... Still has the coreline wheels, which he put 175 on all four corners of in the last year or so apparently. Says he got this car in Maple Ridge and that it didn't have a lot of kms on it when he got it, he thinks it was around 140k, which is quite surprising if that's the case because I sold it in 2007 with 120k - 15 years prior! Anyway, it's available for purchase at the right price....
MikeT
Your C1 didn't have power mirrors which is why I bought the white C1! haha Nice buy! Bummer it's not got seat heaters but it's mainly a summer car (though we use ours in summer too).

smartzuuk
I had an opportunity this morning to crawl underneath the smart a little bit more and spend some time just listening to it run, and checked out the general conditions of things. Intercooler fan working but itself seems to be vibrating on something as well. Vibration went away when the fan stopped so that was handy to make note of. Exhaust looks decent and sounds good, my thought about the exhaust having a little bit of rattle inside of it seems to be the intercooler fan! Intercooler scoop will need replacing. The intercooler of course needs replacing. The next steps will be taking this out to a friend who actually has a place I can put the car in the yard and give it a thorough engine cleaning. Then we can probably dismount the tires and then I will arrange to take the wheel in for repair, I got some steel wheels with snow tires on them that I can put on it in the interim... Need to source a couple 195/50 tires to go on the rear, used if I find them I guess, otherwise I will be calling fasteddy! Going to get out the little green and start tidying up the interior bit, and noted a couple of small holes on the driver seat, so that will have to be rectified one day in order to qualify for collector plates if the car makes it that long, LOL. The storage under the driver seat was removed at some point but I have the tray, but can't fit it in all the way, it is the original because it is keyed to the key I have, so will try to sort that out. Going to need to pull off the front panel and the rear panel and refit everything properly, it looks like it was done in a hurry a couple times in the past with things not quite where they belong underneath. The rear should come off anyway for the engine cleaning, so looking forward to doing that at some point soon. I do not have plates on this however; I just sold my two-wheel drive Ford Ranger yesterday, but the plates needed to go back on my daily driver right hand drive Prius. A bit of surface rust and corrosion to deal with here and there underneath. Car won't really see any winter driving, and it is going to be garaged, so plenty of time to tackle that properly. So far so good. All the things the car needs, for many owners, they would probably not do any of it, LOL. They would just throw it on to marketplace or Craigslist. Then someone like me might buy it. I mean you could clean the engine compartment up really nice and drive it for quite a while before it would get all caked up again, but losing that bit of power with the intercooler leaking, not a great idea. These cars deserve a bit more respect than that!
smartzuuk
AWESOME! Fasteddy had a couple used 195/50 tires in his warehouse, so I'm taking those for the time being, and will save the money for other parts and work. Will consider to put on a matching set of Vreds at some point perhaps. Izzy will be in the Lower Mainland area for ONE full day - Saturday August 31. We will be in the White Rock area. Will put some feelers out as to who could make it this way for a bit of a get-together. His C1 may be making the trip... I'll let him confirm. My car should be plated by then and cleaned up and able to make some rounds before a few things get replaced on it. Spotted another daily driven (with issues) cdi yesterday being offered up - a passion coupe missing a rear hatch window altogether! Wow. Might have been a possible second car at $1200 if no one else was going to offer more, but then decided not to bother. There have been a lot of reasonably good smart cdi coming out of the woodwork these days as the 3rd owners have decided "that was fun", but paying to maintain a cool unique car is just "too much". I mean, I kinda get it, my daily is a 2007 Prius. Great car for what it is. But you know, you'll never be a celebrity in one
smartzuuk
Car went out on "trade", some work was done unbeknownst to me, and now it is back to me on another horse trade....! Needed both wheel bearings in the rear which were getting worse by the day at one point. A set was located in Europe via eBay. FEBI I think. So they are done. EGR cleaned up (not deleted). A brand new intercooler is on. A loose side mirror is no longer loose. And some really bad door panel fabric is now presentable. I just literally came back from picking up a set of original passion wheels for the car (with decent tread!), and so I will see what happens next... It *may* get "de-Brabused", in which case, another car will get a Brabus treatment at some point (perhaps a coupe?). There are a few more items to contend with, minor in nature in the scheme of things. It's running on a fresh oil change I did at 150k. I will move plates onto it from my daily driver Prius for a bit just to see how it's running out now, and then make a decision. Hoping for a radio code to come in from a friend! If not, radio will be pulled, and another friend appears able to assist. I'm good with the stock radio myself.
