elplomo11
Hi everyone I recently bought a 2008 smart car for 2 1.0l guy I bought it from claims he had gotten it for parts because of over heating problems but he was moving so he had to get rid of it car has 124k miles so when I got it home I test it it and it turned on and everything good idle normal so I discarded blown gasket charge the temperature sensor and the thermostat being that I didn't get hot air from the hvac after car worked good during the day of the repair toward the evening I got the temp lights when driving back home I immediately turned the car off and waited to cool down then I got home. I when I started to look for the problem I noticed that the rad fan didn't come on at all so I tested the relay and it was good so I took the front end of to get to the rad fan put 12 volt to it and it worked so back to testing came to find out that fues 28 was missing so I installed one and the fan come on briefly with engine on and a/c on and then turned off right away. checked the fuse and relay and it's good. One thing I noticed is that the a/c compressor kicks in and out with in seconds. I checked the pressure on the low end and it's 65 psi with a/c off. When the a/c it's on and the compressor kick in it goes to 52 psi but it's only for like 10 to 15 second and it kicks out and psi go back to 78 psi on a 90°f weather. I left the car on idle for good 25 to 35 minutes and it didn't over heat I ordered a scan Guage to keep track of the temperature but fan still doesn't come on with a/c nor with the temperature sensor which read 226°f. I also checked the ac temperature sensor under the passenger side.

smartzuuk
Thankfully we aren't grading punctuation! LOL. You will find the 451 fan tends to come on quite LATE IMO, and yes, watch to see what temp it comes on at - I can't recall exactly, but I had a 2008 that behaved very similarly. But do make sure it actually comes on. And make sure using proper spec coolant as well, of course.
