smart142 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 A long time back somone mentioned using a marine cupholder. Finally found a ''sea dog''one at a marine supply place and got it installed last week. It's a little close to the shifter but it is much more user friendly. Under $10. Quote
basspod Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Thats quite snazzy - i may investigate this "cupholder" technology Quote
darren Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Slightly off-topic, but what mats are you using? Quote
smartnhappy Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I saw it in Glenn's car today. Looks good. It holds a Tim's large perfectly. It won't hold a 64 oz Big Gulp, but then neither can I. Cheers. Quote
Duck Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Ooo, I have another question! What's the duck-bill thing in front of your shifter? That's sort of like what the iPod holder looks like, isn't it? Also nice mats! I've given up and am now in sock-feet only mode after how disgustingly filthy my interior became I gave it a big ol' cleaning the other day and now I can't bear to have dirty shoes anywhere near the insides. Inconvienent!! Gary had an interesting solution to interior clenliness involving a big tarp that covered even the pedals! I bet he has like the cleanest interior of us all (even James... ha!!). To stay on topic that is a good place to put that kind of cup holder. I remember my dad and I installing several of those on the inside of his old Volvo 240 DL. -Iain Quote
smart142 Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 Looks my pictures were lost in the big crash-I'll repost. The duck billed thing is to hold cell phones or ipods-got it from ebay(Englamd) Quote
SmartieParts Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 For those interested... I like this duck-billed-thing a lot more. The photo shows blue (older Euro cars) but also comes in grey that matches our interior perfectly: - Steven Quote
MoJo Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 I just installed the cup holder and in the process proved to my self that i do need it. Spilled my drink on the floor pulling out of getting the bolts. And yes those are furry seat covers, it is a shame I'm covering them but i already got them dirty rather than the seat. Quote
oscqc Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I saw the cupholder in your smartcar this week and it looks great. Would you kindly supply the name and address of the marine supply store where you purchased it? Many thanks This looks like something that Smartie Parts should stock - I bet Steve would sell a lot of them and would not have the problem of dealing with a European supplier. Quote
