I have smart.com in my firefox bookmarks list and it has the chicken head favicon shown. I don't know what process determined the value, but I do notice that MBCanada.com has a maple leaf, so I presume it comes from the website. Rather than have two with the same favicon, the little smart car would be unique.

Another thing to consider is copyright protection of the chicken head. I used to belong to the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America. They had a symbol that was based upon the familiar BMW "spinning propeller" symbol affixed to all BMW cars and motorcycles. BMW gmbh eventually told them to stop using it, since it was a trademark, so they had to come up with another design.

Thanks Gent! It was originally 18 x 18 so I didn't think it would look good after shrinking to 16x16 but it came out alright! Other option was to cut off one pixel from the front and back. Here they are for comparison:

Sorry guys I was down with that flu and am now struggling to catch up with work.

Can you guys point me to the icon you want for the site and I'll pop it in place this weekend.

Thanks. :lover:

Sorry for hounding you Dean - I'm glad you are feeling better. I think one of the smart logos is a good bet. There are a bunch of the little smart cars like s_mack used in that windows icon rar file I have on my site - one of those would work as well. Your call!

Interesting... I don't see it in IE. Added to favs and reloaded - still not there. Don't worry about it though.. IE is buggy with favicon. Works in FF and is coded correctly by the looks of it.

I put the favicon.gif in the root. Does IE require it someplace else or does it insist on it being an .ico?

I'm afraid it's not working for Exploder. I know that the usual answer to that statement is "stop using explorer", so I've been quiet.

For Explorer, I think you do need to have a .ico file.

Do you mean it sitting in the root or does it have to be attached to each html file in the header?

Oh man, do I have to redo all the pages? Gods IE is so backwards!

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" />

Bah... :scowl:

There should be a 'header' file of sorts with phpbb Dean... should only have to do ONE change :)

One change for the forum, 7 for the rest of the site... :scowl:
