smart65 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 I have smart.com in my firefox bookmarks list and it has the chicken head favicon shown. I don't know what process determined the value, but I do notice that MBCanada.com has a maple leaf, so I presume it comes from the website. Rather than have two with the same favicon, the little smart car would be unique. Another thing to consider is copyright protection of the chicken head. I used to belong to the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America. They had a symbol that was based upon the familiar BMW "spinning propeller" symbol affixed to all BMW cars and motorcycles. BMW gmbh eventually told them to stop using it, since it was a trademark, so they had to come up with another design. Quote
SmartieParts Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Don't steal mine!! lol. At least don't go with a red one. -Steven Quote
SmartieParts Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Incidentally, there's a great little online tool for creating your favicon from any graphic you have that's square and fits their requirements. see it here - Steven Quote
Cait Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 You all mean to tell me that csc isn't your HOMEPAGE!!!! blasphemy! no need for a favourite if its your home page... Quote

SmartieParts Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Thanks Gent! It was originally 18 x 18 so I didn't think it would look good after shrinking to 16x16 but it came out alright! Other option was to cut off one pixel from the front and back. Here they are for comparison: Quote
Gent Posted March 12, 2006 Author Posted March 12, 2006 Dean must be making an incredible work of art... Quote
TFM Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Sorry guys I was down with that flu and am now struggling to catch up with work. Can you guys point me to the icon you want for the site and I'll pop it in place this weekend. Thanks. Quote
IMSMRT Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 NOT the one of the yellow dude pounding the submit button with his tongue! Quote
Gent Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Sorry for hounding you Dean - I'm glad you are feeling better. I think one of the smart logos is a good bet. There are a bunch of the little smart cars like s_mack used in that windows icon rar file I have on my site - one of those would work as well. Your call! Quote
TFM Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Added in the Favicon (AGAIN). If anyone makes anything better please let me know. Thanks. Quote
SmartieParts Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Interesting... I don't see it in IE. Added to favs and reloaded - still not there. Don't worry about it though.. IE is buggy with favicon. Works in FF and is coded correctly by the looks of it. - Steven Quote

SmartieParts Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Nope, its all correct. Should be gif (not ico) in root. - Steven Quote

Gent Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 I'm afraid it's not working for Exploder. I know that the usual answer to that statement is "stop using explorer", so I've been quiet. For Explorer, I think you do need to have a .ico file. Quote
SmartieParts Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Gent is right, i was wrong.... got mixed up yes .ico easiest best tool - Steven Quote
IMSMRT Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I'm afraid it's not working for Exploder. So stop using Exploder! Firefox Rox! S Quote

TFM Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Oh man, do I have to redo all the pages? Gods IE is so backwards! <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" /> Bah... Quote
SmartieParts Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 There should be a 'header' file of sorts with phpbb Dean... should only have to do ONE change - Steven Quote
