tyc
I say reconditioned because my headlights were still working, but I brought them to 'like new' condition. I followed the classic procedure - washing with detergent, sanding with sandpaper of 800-1000-1500-2000-2500-3000. Then followed the polishing with K2 Lamp Doctor and K2 Lamp Doctor Pad with a Metabo SBEV 1300 machine. After polishing, protection was ensured with PPF. The result is amazing:
MikeT
Luckily my smart is garaged and so the sun damage to the lights is pretty much non-existent. However, in 2019 my son rear ended a car with this smart and a used headlight was put in the passenger side and it is crazed and yellowed. The good news is that I have two absolutely perfect lenses as spares and I'll change the one that's crazed. The other thing to watch for is not to scratch the lens when removing the nose of the car. The clip that holds the centre panel to the fenders can gouge the lights near the top....
tyc
Sorry for the late reply. I touched the left headlight and now it's marked. That happened in October... With the cold weather the left headlight started to fog up and I can't stand that. Even now I haven't discovered the cause of the moisture getting into the interior to fog up. I visually inspected the headlight (the reason for removing the face countless times), I sealed the lens with silicone sealant for gaskets twice, I sealed the vents for a while... the results were null to avoid fogging. Now I use a headlight cover (the one that is mounted on the bulbs) of a special model - with silica gel. 2-3 days the special cover and when the headlight fogs up, I remove and install the original cover and the special one in the house on the hot radiator to dry. The next day I reinstall the special cover and at least I have a relatively dry headlight. The only other solution I see is a total replacement of the headlight.
