Roof shattered

I drove my 2006 Smart Passion out of my garage to move stuff around. When I got in to put it back and closed the door the roof shattered. As far as I can tell nothing hit it, but now I either have an involuntary cabrio or need a new roof. Any ideas where I can find a new or used glass roof and what the cost would be? I am in the Okanagan, BC.

Do you have glass coverage (comprehensive) on your insurance? Claim it, if you do.

its been awhile since ive owned or even repaired a smart...but dont those roofs just glue in like a regular windshield with urethane?...any windshield shop should be able to replace it ...id be checking local parts yards /scrap yards for a parts car to grab a used one ...the yard might even have one of those suction cup crank wire contraptions to make removal extra easy

 

insurance does seem like a good option though if you have full coverage and want new (if new glass is even available)...unless they total it out

I have a spare roof glass in my garage just for this reason.....and yes it just uses the same windshield urethane to install it. I bet the ins. would write the car off for the cost of a new glass roof, damn....
I agree either search for a used glass from wrecker and get glass guy to install it and forget ins. as it'll be a hit against your policy imho.
