SnapDragon Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Hi everyone, I was recently doing alternator service and found this wire that seems to just be hanging out next to it. Does anyone know where this wire is supposed to go? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1prZdzLE-4jxubpYQqTjFgv0A2lRHF6SW?usp=sharing Thanks! Quote
LooseLugNuts Posted May 20 Posted May 20 the one labeld 4825 sure looks like its supposed to go to the positive on the alternator Quote
stickman007 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I think LooseLugNut is right. You can confirm by taking the battery cable off the alternator stud and see if there's an eyelet with broken wire there. The only other single wires on that section of the harness is: a/c compressor, a/c pressure switch x2, and starter S....if I remembered correctly. Quote

The black wire leads to the starter solenoid. But it is very unintuitive that red and black stack together. Quote

The wire is complete with the eyelet, this was directly after a regulator service and upon reinstallation, I found this extra wire. Access was very tight when I undid the stud so I was not sure if I pulled just the red wire or both together. At this point, the car does not want to charge the battery after start, so this wire needs to go somewhere. Does anyone have a photo of this area? Quote
SnapDragon Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 LooseLugNut was absolutely right, its exactly as he said, black wire on bottom, red wire stacked on top. Quote
