Iratama Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Hi, my 450 drivers door won’t open as both the inside and outside handles don’t work. does anyone have any thoughts on how to get the door open? thank you, Quote
MikeT Posted June 17 Posted June 17 There is a way to get the door skin off and then essentially break into the car since the innards of the door are then visible and accessible. I've not done it but I am sure it is possible. It involves distorting the door panel quite a lot to disengage it from the door frame, and it does resume its original shape afterwards. 1 Quote
MikeT Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I think the first step is to use a knee to push the door skin inwards and then unhook the lower bit of the skin. Quote

LooseLugNuts Posted June 18 Posted June 18 im cheap....id try the outer panel removal option first...and pick a warm day things will have more give if i remember right there is three clips and you have to press the panel in pretty hard like said above with your knee and the window up....to get them to pop (after pulling off the outer weatherstrip) then you should have enough room to pop the latch and open the door to get the panel to drop right off as it slides down...or you might even have enough room at the bottom to slide the panel off without opening the door first 1 Quote
LooseLugNuts Posted June 18 Posted June 18 heres a short video of someone popping a panel loose without opening the door ...maybe it will give enough room to reach in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8fKh9WNU 1 Quote
stickman007 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 She came out to my place. We ended up destroying the exterior door handle to extract. I had a few spare parts and was able to install. All working now. Door panel cannot be remove if the door cannot be opened. The culprit ended up being a seized door handle cable. The cable was seized 1/2 way so the door mechanism wouldn’t release fully causing interior to not work. 2 2 Quote
