cdnred Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I've got a 2010 Smart Car 451 with 2 key fobs, both were working in good condition. I had both key fobs in the same pocket for a couple of days. When I went to use the one key fob, it appeared to have lost it's programming since the remote functions no longer worked. Tried changing the battery but found no change in function. I figured it just needed to be reprogrammed. Went to my local dealer to inquire about it. The dealer told me that the key is programmed for life and can't be reprogrammed with the key now being faulty. They told me that I'd need to purchase a new key ($300) plus the cost of programming the new key, price seems rather steep.. Is this the only method of getting the key working again by replacing the whole key with a new key plus programming it..? Is there an easier fix to get the original key working again..? Quote
cdnred Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 (edited) I tried putting the key in the ignition and turning it to position 1. Sometimes the fob just needs to talk with the car again. It's working great now, problem solved and saved a lot of money..🙂 Edited June 30 by cdnred 1 Quote

cdnred Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 I never imaged that the key was so sensitve that it would lose it's sync with the car so easily.. Quote
