How come there are quite a few older posts where the pictures are missing? I was trying to link to some pictures so that other members could see them, but they are no longer found. Is that because the users deleted the pictures from their "user profiles"? If that is the case is there anything that we can do so that important pictures are not deleted? Mainly the ones that are found in the How-To section.

Here is a sample link www.clubsmartcar.com/index.php?showtopic=12459?p=54937#54937

That was my other thought. The big crash of 06. How many people were injured during the crash? :lol2:

Hundreds of members were scarred for life---but only emotionally.

Actually, in some of the topics, some photos were lost while others weren't. It baffles me how that could happen.

Speaking of which, have we run out of attachment space, just now? I have been trying to post a couple pictures, total is less than 200 kb, and it hangs.

We have just over 500 megs of attachments. We have twice that currently allocated for space.

In the crash some of the files were lost. Much more then was lost in the database.

The files were stored in the general webspace and not in the database so it wasn't being backup every night.

It is now backed up every night to my local server here.

On the same topic, I was surprised that the recommended picture size was between 150 and 200 kb - not that that is really big, but I must have been mistaken about the size. I've tried to keep all mine under 100.

Do we have any issues with size? We don't want to discourage picture uploading.

No real issues. If the size is too small for a type let me know and I can change it.

The pictures are set to auto resize themselves for thumbnails if the pictures are too big. It's working very well.

I think you have have up to 1 meg for each picture right now. Though I do recommend people try to keep them to 200k but if a picture needs to be bigger then it's allowed.

1 meg? Wow... Now there's a case of overkill. So at what size does a picture get 'resized' as a thumbnail?

Yes, it is but we have the space... If a picture is 25k or more it will be made into a thumbnail.

I think I found my problem: If I don't enter a description on at least the second attachment, then trying to add the second attach or posting at that point hangs the session.

I've figured out one of the symptoms: It is not about neglecting to enter descriptions in attachments; It's a timing issue. I attach very quickly, and after attaching my second object in a post, then pressing the "Add Attachment" button, there is a chance that the page won't refresh. What I have to do, after each page refresh, is to wait at least 10-30 seconds before adding another object. It reminds me of the delay that is imposed when doing a search, and a consecutive search cannot be done without waiting several seconds.I'm not appealing for a solution. I can work around it until we have some new software to play with.

I have been trying to post some pictures and they are too big, I tried making them smaller and it appears the auto thumbnail reduction feature is not working. Or am I just a dolt. :dunno:

Ahh, no worries! If you were trying to upload a file that came straight from the digital camera without any resizing, then yeah the board software would have probably complained. :)
