ringnut Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Hi; I've had my smart for 12 days and counting...932 kms and 2 fill-ups so far. I've owned many vehicles but this one is so radically different and outrageously fun I actually enjoy running errands now. I own a ruby-red passion - A/C, heated seats, locking drawer, 6 CD holder, cup holder, and a bunch of stuff I haven't discovered yet. We took it to Lake Louise last week-end and my husband couln't believe how well it held the highway, not to mention how easily it took the hills. We're wondering if it's possible to have cruise control installed on this little bomb(?) Looking forward to meeting some fellow Smart owners and getting to know you. I tried to attatch a photo of "Ruby" but I'm told the file is too large and can't figure out how to make it fit. Perhaps someone out there can give me some advice? I enjoy making wine, am learning piano and French, and enjoy swimming with a club for fitness. Quote
RichHelms Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Welcome. You need to edit the image to make it smaller. A photo editor is how it is done. I use Photoshop but there are many out there. Quote
MikeT Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Hi, ringnut! s_mack (a member here) of www.smartieparts.com sells aftermarket cruise control which looks just like the European market factory cruise and by all acoounts is a good product at a fair price. Quote
Speedie Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Welcome Ringnut - I just installed the cruise control this morning less than 2 hours - including a trip to CT - it is quite doable in the driveway - if you are not comfy swinging wrenches it is something your local mechanic should be able to do (not MB - they might not appreciate it). The cruise looks totally stock and works well - there is nothing done that is not reversable easily. Cheers, Cameron Quote

ringnut Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 Thanks for the tips. I'll have another go at attaching that photo. Does installing cruise affect my warranty? Quote
Speedie Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Thanks for the tips. I'll have another go at attaching that photo. Does installing cruise affect my warranty? There is a great deal of philisophical discussion around mods and warranty. Check out the modifications section - it invokes as much heated discussion as politics and religion. Cheers, Cameron Quote
MikeT Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I wouldn't worry about warranty. This mod (cruise) is reversible, in the extremely unlikely event that something in the electronics goofs up. Quote
