burnman Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I went to my dealer in Edmonton during the winter. They said they would not do the Brake Boot adjustment unless a problem was evident. Quote

42Kruiser Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Had our car in Monday for our third airbag (SRS) light staying on. When I called a couple of weeks ago, my busy schedule not theirs, for an appointment the service manager said he would do a little homework on SRS light problems before our appointment. It's a proud service manager that can say your car is fixed and ready as we had the parts (SRS control module) in stock. He also had checked our car records against service bulletins and had the brake boot repair done also. The cabrio roof out of joint repair I handled all by myself, thank you very much. Quote
bilgladstone Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I had the same result as Burnman last year when I inquired about my brake boot replacement. Eddie Edmonton. Hmmm... Quote

bilgladstone Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Anyone know the MB part # for the AC flash. My dealer feels that their is no such thing Part number? It's a software update!Tell him to read Smart Technical Service Bulletin Number 11 (eleven), Update EDG module software as per. Equivalent of "RTFM!" It's just a "shoestring" code amendment that is appended to your existing ECU/EDG programming. It doesn't overwrite the whole ECU - nice to know in case you have a remap; the remap won't be affected. tigersdb Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Is there an online listing of all the TSB's Technical Service Bulletins? Quote
bilgladstone Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Is there an online listing of all the TSB's Technical Service Bulletins? You're there... er... here!MB won't release them outside the company, so we rely on club members to share any that they find. Above are those that we've found so far.... Eyes and ears open, everyone!Bil Quote

Service Campaign # 2006-09-0001 From THIS THREAD The advisor told me... ...they have to install a drain under the passenger carpet ( where the battery is) because sometime there is a possibility in winter for some liquid infiltration that could affect an electronic module situated there. they also have to move the module. PERFORMED CAMPAING 2006090001 - MOD. OF THE CONTROL UNIT BOX (E BOX) AND INSTALLATION OF THE WATER DRAINAGE GROMMET.Thank you Berenger! Quote

bilgladstone Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Aren't there? How about an update, TITK (Those In The Know)! Yes there are others. There are "campaigns" for replacing or adjusting seatbelt fasteners for example. Anyone who gets work like this done, please let us know the details! Read your service invoices and see if there are items that look like warranty or free updates and send us the numbers... This record will certainly help lots of us as time goes on and certain faults appear for which there are MB/smart fixes already in the system. s m a r t regards, Bil Quote

danno Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 When was your car made, Garth? I just had my first A service as well, and they only did the previously-mentioned battery box water drainage grommet (no seat or belt adjustments). Mine was manufactured in January/06. It would be nice to know the dates affected by each of these "campaigns". Quote
smartdaddy Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 My car mfd. January 2006.Kelowna Merc performed Campaign 2006050002Retorque Fastening Bolt on both seat belt buckles.July 2006.They added it automatically after doing other workI had done.I received a notice from MB 2 months ago for warrentywork to be done re: seat belts.I unfortunately turfed itwithout reading it as I assumed it was for the workthat had been done already. (duh). Quote

The funny thing is that shipments were delayed at the end of March/start of april because of backlog created due to problems with seat bolts...my VIN wasn't on the list of affected cars back then though. However, I then received a recall letter a couple of months ago for the problem(s)...didn't get it looked at until my service last week.garth Quote
bilgladstone Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 UK smarties report that there is an internal smart "Service Measure" memo #S038 that relates to cracks or failure of the front springs on over 14,000 fortwos. The VIN range is not yet known outside MB/smart/DC but if you have funny sounds or suspect your front springs are... odd... check with your service manager to see if your VIN is on the list. I don't know how careful smart is about cross-border sharing of these memos. Might be just a UK thing s m a r t regards, Bil Quote
bilgladstone Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 The news for 2007 appears to be: new bulb warranty [is] 2 years or 40,000 km. Double the [2,000km]"adjustment" warranty.Your smart centre will replace and install headlamps n/c under these new terms, according to a memo from smart Canada (viewed at TPM by smartcruisin)Thanks Eldor and smartcruisin Quote
bilgladstone Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 It is not uncommon that the clip that holds the a/c piping breaks or comes loose. MB/smart know about this and have a repair sorted out. Turns out smart has seen this problem and has an official repair. When the bolt broke off it left a small hole in the underbody. They have ordered a welding rivet from Germany that replaces the bolt. They will have to drill a lager hole, prime and paint it, then insert the rivet. I am told it is then treated with a body sealer on top and below. Once ready they reattach the original bracket to the rivet. Quote
The Rog Man Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 This brake issue you guys speak of, does it affect the actual brake lights coming on?The reason i ask is a friend was following me in stop and go traffic yesterday and said my brake lights never once came on? When he got me to pull off the road and we checked them, they worked and continued to work after that? Has anyone had any brake light issues with the smart? Quote
Guest kwaldron Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 How much do you downshift? My brakelights come on only rarely as I tend to downshift a lot and anticipate stoppages in order to maintain the best fuel mileage. It is not unusual for me to roll to a stop behind the car in front of me at a light without having touched the brakes. If your driving style is similar your friend would have encountered a number of times when you decellerated but no brake lights came on. Quote
Duck Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 It should be fairly obvious to anyone that their light would not come on by not pressing the brake pedal. :lol:You might have an issue with your foot switch; it's a common problem with the 2005's. Parts are about $40 IIRC.-Iain Quote
